Billy Dean ‘Blossom’ Smith

Mr. Billy Dean “Blossom” Smith, age 79, of 1869 Arrowood Lane in Lincolnton, died on Friday, October 12, 2012.

His funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 in theWarlick Funeral HomeChapel with Pastor Darrell Setzer officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. tonight atWarlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Smith was born November 30, 1933 in Lincoln County to the late Charles Tomp and Nellie Mae Queen Smith.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Randy Joe Sisk. He worked for Henkle Concrete for thirty years as a truck driver, Concrete Supply, and also at NAPA Auto Parts. In addition he liked model cars.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Kirby Smith of the home; four sons, Roger and Becky Smith, Terry and Tonya Smith, Bobby and Jodi Smith, and Richard Smith; two daughters, Sherry and Robert Beason and Crystal Setzer; two sisters, Cindy and Mike McClure and Barbara and James Lail; special friend and caregiver, Phyllis Hartsell; twelve grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Lincoln County, 107 N. Cedar Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092.

Ruth Grigg

BOILING SPRINGS — Miss Ruth Grigg, age 94, of the Boiling Springs Rest Home, died on Friday, October 12, 2012.

A graveside service was held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at Zion Cemetery with Rev. Kevin Miller officiating.

Miss Grigg was born September 2, 1917 in Cleveland County to the late Edgar Sumpter and Tommie Matilda Lattimore Grigg.

She is survived by a niece, Judy Sain and husband Gene of Vale; and nephews, Delbert Grigg and wife Adebelle, Wayne Grigg, and Ralph Grigg, all of Lincolnton.

Edward Eugene ‘Gene’ Henderson

VALE — Mr. Edward Eugene “Gene” Henderson, age 78, of 9145 Knoll Drive in Vale, died on Friday, October 12, 2012.

His funeral service will be 3:30 p.m. today in theWarlick Funeral HomeChapel with Rev. Norris Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family received friends from 2 p.m. until 8 pm on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at the home of Barbara Godfrey, 5634 Highway 182, Cherryville.

Mr. Henderson was born May 30, 1934 in Cherokee County, S.C. to the late Clinton and Alice Turner Henderson.  He worked in furniture manufacturing.

He is survived by his wife, Hettie Moore Henderson of the home; two sons, Bobby Henderson of Lincolnton and Billy Henderson of Vale; two daughters, Barbara H. Godfrey of Cherryville and Elizabeth H. Biggerstaff of Maiden; four brothers, Hoyle Henderson, James Henderson, and Levon Henderson, all of Vale, and Alfred Henderson of Lincolnton; two sisters, Verlene Johnson of Lincolnton and Alene Rudisill of Denver; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Earnest Walter Rudisill

Earnest Walter Rudisill, age 85, of Lincolnton, died on Thursday, October 11, 2012.

His funeral service was 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at Highland Drive Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Dale Justice officiating. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family received friends from 3 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Mr. Rudisill was born March 15, 1927 in Lincoln County to the late Zero Pinkney and Geneva Rodgers Rudisill. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers Harold and John, and sisters, Gail and Sarah. Mr. Rudisill worked in textiles.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Jones Rudisill of the home; a son, Gary Walter Rudisill of Lincolnton; a daughter, Shirley Graham of Gastonia; five brothers, Buck Rudisill of Gastonia, Fred Rudisill, Walt Rudisill, Roger Rudisill, and Jim Rudisill of Dallas; three sisters, Mildred “Sis” Dellinger and Betty Herms both of Ranlo, and Martha Hovis of Vale; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Ethel Frances Wilkinson Christopher, 79, of Iron Station died October 12, 2012.
