After sitting vacant for about four years, Anytime Fitness is finally expected to open for business sometime this winter.

Will Fisher of Charlotte-based York Development Group, which owns the Lincolnton Station Shopping Center on East Main Street, told the Times-News last week that the “state-of-the-art” gym has now been leased after the original tenant didn’t work out.

The 4,738-square-foot exercise facility has targeted a mid-December opening date.

Owner Brad Thompson, who currently resides in Cornelius, told the Times-News that he will be the sole employee for the time being, with the exception of one or two personal trainers. However, he hopes to add additional staff members once things are up and running.

“I am very excited to bring Anytime Fitness to Lincolnton,” Thompson said. “I think this will be a great addition to an already outstanding and growing area.”

Anytime Fitness clubs allow members to use security-access keys to enter the club 24/7, whether staff is on hand or not.
