Thanks for Apple Festival teamwork

According to Knute Rockne, legendary football coach at Notre Dame, “ the secret is to work less as individuals and more as a team. As a coach, I play not my 11 best, but my best 11.”
Teamwork highlighted in this quote took on special meaning for the Lincolnton Lions  Club when 90 percent of our members and some of our spouses volunteering time and talents to operate one of three parking lots at the Lincoln County’s 40th Apple Festival.
Having never visited Lincoln County, Lion Edwin Nelson, Zone 1 Chair and an active member of Bryson City Lions Club, was eager to volunteer to help the Lincolnton Lions with their fundraiser, and spent two days at one of our local motels, and touring our city, county, and surrounding counties.
In addition to the Teamwork displayed by our Lions, we would like to express our sincere appreciation to the following people and organizations: Kevin Star, Lincoln County Cooperative Extension Service, the Lincoln Times-News, Beverly Deal at First Citizen Bank, and Melissa Spivey at Raymond James Financial Services for their roles in promoting our Lions Club fundraiser.
We would be remiss not to extend our thanks to Apple Festival visitors who either parked in one of our three Lions sponsored parking lots,or purchased our brooms, mops and kazoos.
As a result of seeing our Lions Club teamwork up close and personal, several of Apple Festival visitors expressed an interest in learning more about Lions Club International and joining our local club.
They were surprised to learn Lions Club International is the largest coeducational service organization with more than 1.35 million members in 46,000 clubs in 208 nations and geographic areas.
Proceeds from the 7th Annual Lincolnton Lions Club’s Apple Festival Parking lots will provide services for the blind/visually impaired, purchase eyeglasses and eye examinations for Lincoln County needy citizens, sponsor NC Lions Mobile Vision Screening Unit at select elementary schools, sponsor blind/visually impaired to Camp Dogwood and NC Lions Visually Impaired Fishing Tournament @ Nags Head, support our 14th Annual Lions Club Christmas Party/Luncheon For The Blind, sponsor Lions Club International Peace Poster Contest, and other Lions Club charities.
