Dorcas Hope Tull Taylor
Dorcas Hope Tull Taylor passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2012 after 74 fun-loving years. She was born in Portland, M.E. to Edwin and the late Doris Tull on November 23, 1937, as the first of 4 children. She resided in Lincolnton the past 41 years.
She is survived by her son, Hiram “Tad” Joseph Taylor IV, with wife Leah Beth of Statesville and their 4 daughters, Violet Hope, Summer Grace, Savannah Joy and Rebekah Faith. She is also survived by her daughter Tammy Jo Taylor Richard, with husband Jeremy of Parrish, F.L. and their daughter Samantha Riley.
Dorcas taught Math at Lincolnton High School for 34 years. She loved teaching, playing the piano, traveling, doing craft shows and spending time with friends and family. She was passionate about helping students in and out of the classroom. She is known for her smile and out-going personality.
Dorcas is preceded in death by her sister Rebecca Bryant.
Dorcas is survived by her father, William Edwin Tull, 98, of Seaford, D.E. Surviving siblings are Ruth Ann Sneller of Seaford, D.E. and William Edwin Tull, Jr of Milford, D.E. Other survivors include Mike Sneller of Ellicot City, M.D., Jennifer Bryant Kinzer of Fairfield, O.H. and Michelle Bryant Davis of Fairfield, O.H.
A celebration of life will be held at Covenant Bible Church on Sunday at 3 p.m. This will be a time to honor the life of this amazing woman. Visitation will follow the service.

Harold Houston Wood
VALE — Mr. Harold Houston Wood, age 76, of 5011 Chrysanthemum Lane in Vale, died on Thursday, September 27, 2012.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Bethel Cemetery with Rev. Terrell Robinson and Rev. Kevin Miller officiating.
Mr. Wood was one of nine children born June 29, 1936 in Kopperston, W.Va. to the late William Harold and Avanell Goldie Hendricks Wood. He worked as a machinist.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Hazel Carpenter Wood of the home; one son, Harry Houston Wood Jr. and wife Colleen; two stepsons, Gerald “Stretch” Carpenter and daughter-in-law Deana Carpenter of Vale and Rusty Michael Carpenter and wife Donna of Lincolnton; three grandchildren, Taylor Beard and wife Hannah, Andrew Gillian, and Jessica Snook; and two great-grandchildren, Addison Beard and Madison Stewart.

Ola Mae Ridley Canipe
Ola Mae Ridley Canipe, age 85, of Cardinal Care, and formerly of 1764 Powerline Road in Lincolnton, died on Thursday, September 27, 2012.
Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at South River Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Chapman and Rev. Justin Houser officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Canipe was born June 8, 1927 in Ga. to the late George Ridley and Dollie Walker Satterfield. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, George Elliott Canipe and two daughters, Andrea Sain and Cheryl Canipe. She worked in textiles.
She is survived by two sons, Nicky Canipe of Wallace, and Dennis Canipe of Lincolnton; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Stephen Farrel Allen, age 48, of 1147 Foxberry Road in Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, September 26, 2012.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2012 in theWarlick Funeral HomeChapel with Rev. Kelly Lowe officiating. At other times, the family will be at the home.
Mr. Allen was born November 7, 1963 in Gaston County to Freida Black Allen and the late James Wendell Allen. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Pitt Davis. He worked in furniture manufacturing.
He is survived by his mother, Freida B. Davis of the home; one brother, Tim Allen of the home; three sisters, Cindy Cirillo, Charlotte, Wendy Hord and husband Larry and Kim Walker, all of Lincolnton; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Mr. Larry Dean Ward Jr., age 47, of 1563 Wicket Lane in Lincolnton, died on Thursday, September 27, 2012.
His funeral service will be 12 noon on Saturday, September 29, 2012 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:15 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Warlick Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at their home at 1563 Wicket Lane in Lincolnton.
Mr. Ward was born on December 3, 1964 in Dover, Del. to the late Larry Ward Sr. and Dorothy Cann Ward. Mr. Ward owned Ideal Transport of Hickory, and was a loving husband and father, as well as to everyone he came into contact with.
He is survived by a wife, Terrye Maxwell Ward of Lincolnton; one daughter, Crystal Ward Taylor and husband Neil of Lenoir; one granddaughter, Peyton Landrie Taylor; and numerous aunts and uncles from the Iron Station area.
