Trudy Aileen Bell Bumgarner, age 65, of 3332 E. Highway 150 in Lincolnton, died on Friday, September 21, 2012.
A graveside service with inurnment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends anytime at the home at 3332 E. Highway 150.
Mrs. Bumgarner was born December 10, 1946 in Cleveland County to the late Robert Marcus and Pearl May McGinnis Bell. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by three brothers, Bobby Bell, Kenneth Bell, and Roy Dean Bell. She worked as a deli clerk.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald Gene Bumgarner of the home; three daughters, Ruby Elaine Heafner and husband Kenneth of Lincolnton, Anita Bumgarner Buckwell and husband Andrew and Crystal Angelic Varner and husband Bruce, all of Lincolnton; three brothers, Johnny Bell of Statesville, Jimmy Bell and Troy Gene Bell, both of Taylorsville; one sister, Judy Childers of Cherryville; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Robert ‘Robbie’ Spencer Moose
CATAWBA, N.C. — Robert “Robbie” Spencer Moose, age 25, of Catawba, passed away on September 20, 2012 at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC due to complications after a battle with testicular cancer.
Born April 25, 1987, he was the son of Robert Vernon Moose and Anita Butler Moose of Denver. Robbie was a christian with unshakable faith and a beautiful person who touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He was a selfless person who loved unconditionally and could not do enough for others. Robbie was full of laughter and the best husband, brother, son, and “unckie” to his family.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Samantha Mullins Moose; sisters, Ashton Moose of Denver, Elizabeth Roach of Roxboro; “Oma” Liselotte Smith; father-in-law, Clyde Mullins; mother-in-law, Jessica Mullins; two “other mothers,” Natalie Butler and Vickie McGarity; sister-in-law, Nikki Mullins; one niece; two nephews; two very special family friends, Christopher Petty and Kevin Cooke; and several other family members.
A Service of Remembrance will be held today at 2:45 p.m. at Drum Funeral Home, 940 29th Avenue NE, Hickory, N.C. 28601 with Pastor James Torrence and Pastor Curtis Williams officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. prior to the service.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Thompson Chapel Evangelical Methodist Church Cemetery in Denver, NC.

DENVER, N.C. — Mr. Ben Nixon, age 67, of Wood Duck Lane in Denver, died on Saturday, September 22, 2012 after a short, courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was well known for his quick wit and willingness to lend a hand to others and will be missed by many.
A graduate of Rock Springs High School and Central Piedmont College, Ben served his country as a US Marine. After earning the distinction of becoming Ryder Truck Leasings’ first national certified Tech 6 Master Diesel expert, he continued in management in the trucking industry. After early retirement he enjoyed his farm, devoting time to the Lord by word and deed, and serving beside his wife as she pastored.
Ben was the son of the late Vance and Fannie Nixon of Triangle and was also predeceased by brothers Melvin Nixon, Mt. Holly, Stamey Nixon, Maiden; sisters-in-law Anne W. Loftin, Lincolnton, Mildred Nixon, Lucia; and niece, Lisa Nixon, Maiden.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife and best friend of 39 years, Rev. Kay Whitesides Nixon of the home. He is also survived by one brother, Burgin Nixon of Lucia; sisters-in-law Mary Nixon, Maiden and Jewel Nixon, Mt. Holly; brother-in-law Jerry Loftin, Lincolnton; one niece and three nephews; his buddies Trinity, Fancy and Cheyenne.
A receiving of friends is today from 6 until 8 p.m. at Denver Wesleyan Church, 2381 North Highway 16, Denver, NC. The service of celebration will be 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Denver Wesleyan Church with Senior Pastor Johnny Houser officiating with burial to follow in Denver Community Cemetery. His body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church.
Special thanks are given to Dr. David Jaroszewski and staff; to Lake Norman Oncology; and friends Gary Werth and Doug Broome for care during his illness.

DENVER, N.C. — Brent Lester Popple, 50, of Denver died Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at Presbyterian Hospital Huntersville. Born August 26, 1962 in Dansville, N.Y. he was a son of Donald Roy Popple and the late Beulah Mae Brokaw Popple.
He enjoyed racing bikes, camping and was an avid Miami Dolphin Fan.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening September 25, 2012 at Salem United Methodist Church, Denver, from 5 to 7 p.m.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Ryan Popple and fiancé, Katy Osmelowski of Pittsburg, P.A., Amanda Howard and husband Gerritt of Catawba and Bradley Popple of Charlotte; sisters, Brenda Milanette and husband Alan and Erika Popple; brothers, Dennis Popple and wife Connie, Bryan Popple; grandson, Beckett Howard and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Lee Ballard Reynolds
DENVER, N.C. — Mary Lee Ballard Reynolds, age 79, of Denver, died on Friday, September 21, 2012.
Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Denver Baptist Church with the body to lie in state for one hour prior to the service. Rev. Chris Griggs will officiate. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Reynolds was born June 30, 1933 in Gaston County to the late William and Mary Welch Lang Ballard. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Oscar Reynolds. Mrs. Reynolds was a homemaker. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and loved her church family.
She is survived by a son, Gregory Scott Reynolds of Denver; a daughter, Pamela R. Barbagli and husband Ron of Denver; three grandchildren, Sarah, Amy, and Matthew Barbagli, all of Denver; a brother, Frank Ballard of Gastonia; a half-sister, Connie Ballard of South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.

Dr. Darrell Edward Schrum
Dr. Darrell Edward Schrum age 67, of 636 West Park Drive in Lincolnton died Saturday, September 22, 2012.
Dr. Schrum was born on October 25, 1944 in Buncombe County. His parents, Howard and Geraldine Lanier Schrum preceded him in death. Dr. Schrum practiced family dentistry in Lincolnton for 38 years prior to his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Puett Schrum of the home; son, John Schrum and spouse, Brook Holland Schrum of Augusta, Georgia; daughter Angela Schrum and spouse, Martin Werley of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; two grandsons, Mack and William Schrum; brothers, Marvin Schrum of Charlotte and Jesse Schrum of Alexandria, V.A.
A private service will be held today. The family will receive friends today from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the Fellowship Building at First United Methodist Church, 201 E. Main Street, Lincolnton.
