Gaston man charged in sexual assault on local teen

Lincoln County Sheriff’s detectives jailed a Gaston County man Tuesday under a $100,000 bond for accusations he sexually assaulted an area teen earlier this summer, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Cedrick Marquice Delon Wilson, 20, of 9120 Butterfly Court in Gastonia, inappropriately touched a 13-year-old girl over a time period of a nearly a month and a half, according to an agency press release.
The suspect had been at the victim’s Lincoln County residence between June 1 and July 19 when the incident occurred, deputies said.
Before Gaston County authorities turned Wilson over to local law enforcement, he served a month in jail for violating his probation, theft and a failure to appear charge.
He’s currently being held in the Lincoln County jail for one felony count of statutory rape/sex offense of a person 13, 14, or 15 years of age by a defendant more than six years older.
Wilson has a history of misdemeanor larceny in Lincoln County, according to the North Carolina Department of Correction website.
Sheriff’s Det. Sally Dellinger filed the charges against Wilson, the release said.
