The Lake Norman Rural Planning Organization is hosting a community-comment session Wednesday afternoon to solicit input from the public regarding the update of a coordinated comprehensive public transportation plan for Lincoln, Cleveland, Iredell and Gaston counties.
The effort is being led by the Lake Norman RPO, in cooperation with the public transportation providers for the four counties.
Meetings in each area are being conducted over the next several weeks to allow citizens a chance to participate in the process. The existing plan, developed in 2008, identified transit needs, as well as strategies and priorities for how to improve public-transportation service in the area. It is required to be updated every four years.
“We need your valuable knowledge on whether this plan identifies appropriate intra- and inter-county transit services to meet the needs of all citizens,” officials said in a press release announcing the sessions. “We have scheduled four meetings in the study area in the coming weeks to allow interested persons and organizations to review and provide input for the plan.”
Copies of the existing plan are available for download from the Lake Norman RPO website at: www.lakenormanrpo.org.
Wednesday’s meeting will take place from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Citizens Center.
