James Franklin Melton
Mr. James Franklin Melton, age 78, of 223 E. Congress Street in Lincolnton, died on Sunday, September 2, 2012.
A memorial service will be held at 9 a.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Shelby. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Melton was born January 30, 1934 in Grover, S.C. to the late Oscar and Ruth Hambright Melton. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn McSwain Melton. He was a 20-year Vietnam Veteran having served in the United States Air Force as a fighter pilot and then later as Director of Mental Health for Lincoln County.
He is survived by a son, David Melton and wife Darla of Lincolnton; a daughter, Ann DeShazo and husband Charles of Charlotte; and one grandson, Charles James DeShazo.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Lincoln County, 107 N. Cedar Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092.

Ernest Cline Snipes
Mr. Ernest Cline Snipes, age 75, of 975 McRee Road in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, September 4, 2012.
His funeral service will be 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Boger City Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Stanley Spence officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Snipes was born June 19, 1937 in Lincoln County to Lois Cline Snipes and the late Samuel Esley Snipes. He served in the United States Marine Reserves and then worked as a salesman.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Rutledge Snipes of the home; three daughters, Ellen Smith and husband Steve of Laurinburg, Ann Ballard Quinn and husband Mark of Kernersville, and Kelly Johnson and husband Tim of Lincolnton; his mother, Lois Cline Snipes; one brother, Jacel Snipes of Sherrills Ford; and five grandchildren, Andrew and Daniel Smith, Lindsey and Bonnie Ballard, and Noah Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Boger City Baptist Church Building Fund, 2201 E. Main Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092.

Linda Huss Jenkins, 67, of Summerfield, Fla., formerly of Lincolnton, died August 23, 2012.
A memorial service will be held at Bethphage Lutheran Church, September 8, 2012, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at the home of Michelle Hall following the service.

Homer Thomas White Jr., 89, of Cherryville died September 3, 2012.
Funeral services will be held September 6, 2012 at 4 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends in the Parlor of St. John’s Lutheran Church from 2:30 p.m. until 3:45 p.m.
