Gilmer Woodruff ‘Buddy’ Caudill Jr.
Mr. Gilmer Woodruff “Buddy” Caudill Jr., age 73, of 4740 Westwinds Road in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, August 28, 2012.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Hollybrook Cemetery. The family received friends from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mr. Caudill was born December 6, 1938 in Statesville to the late Gilmer Woodruff Caudill Sr. and Serlena Gentry Caudill. He was a band director for several schools and retired from McGuire Nuclear Plant.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Beam Caudill of the home; and mother-in-law, Thelma Beam.

Scottie Douglas Laws
CHERRYVILLE — Mr. Scottie Douglas Laws, age 46, of 1005 W. Carroll Street in Cherryville, died on Tuesday, August 28, 2012.
His funeral service will be 3 p.m. today at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. David Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. today prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Laws was born May 31, 1966 in Wilkes County, to Doug Laws and the late Peggy Butler Laws.
He is survived by his father, Doug Laws and wife Norma of Wilkesboro; sister, Wendy Hallman and husband Blake of Cherryville; special friend, Kristi Ferguson of Cherryville; one step-brother, Jeff Faw and wife Angel of Wilkesboro; two step-sisters, April Marr and husband Jessie and Beckie Spears and husband Will, all of Wilkesboro; and several nieces and nephews.

Meredith Sigmon Moore
Mrs. Meredith Sigmon Moore, 65, of 226 Lariet Drive, Lincolnton, died Wednesday, August. 29, 2012 at The Robin Johnson House in Dallas, NC, after a brief illness.
Born in Cherryville, August 12, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Rufus Eugene and Vida Mauney Sigmon. She retired from CommScope, after more than 20 years of service. She was a member of Ironton Presbyterian Church, where she was an Elder and served as Clerk of Session.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband W. Gary Moore; two brothers, J.T. Sigmon and Harold Sigmon; two sisters, Elsie Sigmon and Christine Sigmon Brown; a sister-in-law, Betty Sigmon two nieces, Suzanne Sigmon and Meleia Garcia; and two nephews, Jeff Brown and Todd McConnell; and her mother in-law and father in-law, John G. and Genevieve H. Moore.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa M. and Kenny Jackson, son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Cyndi Moore; two granddaughters, Regan Moore and Anna Jackson; two grandsons, Tyler Jackson and Jared Moore all of Lincolnton, sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Larry Schubert of Charlotte, brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill Sigmon, Tim and Becky Sigmon, Martel Sigmon, Paul Sigmon, all of Cherryville, Dennis and Pat Sigmon, Weatherford, Texas, Jimmie and Deanne Sigmon of Lincolnton, sisters-in-law Marie Sigmon and Dot Sigmon of Cherryville; One brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Linda Moore of Lincolnton; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ann and Robert Dellinger of Crouse; Barbara and Louis McConnell, of Lincolnton and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Cherryville, with Rev. Dr. Billy T. Lowe and Rev. Jason Schubert officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Lincolnton, NC…
The family will receive friends Thursday August 30, from 6 to 8 PM at Carpenter’s Funeral Home, Cherryville and other times at the home.

Mona Lynch Lander, 80, of Durham died August 26, 2012.
Funeral services are September 1, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the chapel at Ebony & White’s Funeral Service with burial to follow in Pine Street Presbyterian Church cemetery. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service in the chapel.
