Water main break closes school
A water main break southwest of Lincolnton forced one school to release students early on Tuesday and affected service to an unknown number of residences and businesses in the area.
Lincoln County Public Works officials said they had a team working on the problem at 8:55 a.m. and expected to have the break at the N.C. 150 bypass and Lynwell Road repaired by noon.
Lincoln Charter School’s Lincolnton Campus, located between N.C. 27 and N.C. 182 released its students in compliance with state health regulations when a loss of water pressure occurs. Lincoln County Public Schools told the Times-News that none of their campuses were affected.
