William Earl Hoffman Sr.
Mr. William Earl Hoffman, Sr., age 87, of 3230 Brady Hoffman Road in Lincolnton, died on Sunday, August 26, 2012.
His funeral service will be 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Long Shoals Wesleyan Church with Rev. Jon Mann officiating. Burial will follow in the Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:30 p.m. until 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Hoffman was born December 6, 1924 in Lincoln County to the late Brady Jonas and Essie Myrtle Kale Hoffman. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Syvilla Lutz Hoffman, and his stepmother, Leila H. Price. Mr. Hoffman served in the United States Army during World War II having received an EAME Ribbon with six Bronze stars and two Overseas bars. He then worked as a carpenter until retirement.
He is survived by a son, William E. Hoffman Jr. of Charlotte; three daughters, Robbie H. Burgess of Crouse, Lee Ann Cook of Lincolnton, and Sandra Tucker of Galax, Va.; one sister, Essie H. Williams of Lincolnton; nine grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Ralph Dalton Cline Sr.
Mr. Ralph Dalton Cline Sr., age 78, of Labans Lane, Lincolnton, passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Lincolnton with Rev. Dr. Stanley Spence and Rev. Ken Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Lincolnton from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
Mr. Cline was born on September 28, 1933 son of the late Ray and Nellie Uren Cline. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 35 years before retiring. He was preceded in death by his first wife Odies Faulkner Cline; stepmother, Elizabeth Huffstickler Cline; and one brother Ray Carroll Cline. Mr. Cline also served his country during the Korean War in the Navy.
Survivors include his wife Franna White Cline of the home; three sons, Ralph D. “Butch” Cline and wife Sandy of Gastonia, Samuel Lee Cline and wife Randi of Kings Mountain, and David Mason Cline and wife Michelle of Harrisburg; one stepson, Travis Deaton and wife Susan of LaPorte City, Iowa; one stepdaughter, Stephanie Deaton of Lincolnton; one brother, Larry Cline and wife Katherine of Griffin, Ga.; three sisters, Joyce Howell and husband Ray, Dixie Blanton, and Peggy Wells, all of Kings Mountain; one sister-in-law, Doris Cline of Flagstaff, Ariz.; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Ruby Clark Tutherow went home to be with Jesus on August 24, 2012 at her home at the age of 94.

Ruby was born in Rock Hill, S.C. She was the daughter of the late Judd and Daisy Knight Clark. She was also preceded in death by her husband, T.J. Tutherow and a daughter, Brenda Tutherow. Ruby was a homemaker and a member of Laboratory United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
