Church banquet
Gold Hill Missionary Baptist Church will present “A Portrait of Faithfulness,” a banquet in recognition of leaders honoring Mr. J.T. Rendleman of Mt. Holly, a Trustee and member of Gold Hill’s church family, 5 p.m. Sept. 15 at Faith Baptist Church, 5180 Old Plank Rd. in Iron Station.  Commissioner of Labor Cherie Berry will be the keynote speaker. Photography Club
The Lincoln Photography Club will meet 7 p.m. today at the Lincoln Cultural Center, 403 E. Main St. in Lincolnton. Club members are asked to bring examples from their favorite printing companies.

Lincoln County Board of Social Services
The regular meeting of the Lincoln County Board of Social Services has been changed and will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Board Room of the Social Services facility, 1136 E. Main St. in Lincolnton. For more information, call (704) 732-0738.

United Way breakfast

Battle of the Bands
Catawba Valley Music Revival will present it’s 3rd annual Battle of the Bluegrass Bands noon Saturday at 5799 Coot Williams Rd. in Cherryville. Medicine Drop
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office will hold it’s first unwanted medicine drop 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Charlie District Office, 1889 N. N.C. 16 in Denver, across from Westport Baptist Church. Items may include over-the-counter and prescription medications, vitamins, supplements, syrings, ointments/creams and all other unwanted medications. Aerosol cans will not be accepted. Divorce Care
River View Baptist Church, 2230 Riverview Rd. in Lincolnton, will sponsor a 14-week Divorce Care group 6:30-8 p.m. starting Sept. 5. Childcare will be provided.

Cruz-In
St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and the North Lincoln High School drama club and band will sponsor the 7th annual Super Cruz-In & Show for hot rods, classic and antique cars, rain or shine, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 8 in the NLHS parking lot, 2737 Lee Lawing Rd in Lincolnton. Vehicle registration money must be received by Saturday or at a higher rate the day of the show. The Arts Council of Lincoln County is currently accepting applications for its Grassroots Arts Program for the 2012-13 year. Applications should be mailed to ACLC, P.O.
