Fried Pies
The Lincoln County Extension and Community Association are selling fried apple pies today through Friday at $2 apiece in the Citizens Center kitchen in Lincolnton. Walk-ins are welcome 10 a.m. daily but will be limited to five pies or less. For large orders, call (704) 736-8464.

NL band camp
North Lincoln High School will host a band camp 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6-8:30 p.m. Thursday; and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. The band will perform 7:15 p.m. Friday for the school’s first home football game and host a yard sale/car wash 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Hardees parking lot on N.C. 150 in Denver.

“Dine in Denver”
The Lincoln County unit of the N.C. Cooperative Extension will host “Dine in Denver” Farmers’ Market Dinner 7-8:30 p.m. today as part of Farm City Week. For more information, call (704) 736-8452.

Widowed Group
Widowed Group of the Greater Gaston Area will host guest speaker Marcia T. The Lincoln Cultural Center, 403 E. Main St. in Lincolnton, will host Poetry Lincolnton 7 p.m. Friday. Open mic will follow the show so bring your poems and friends.

Cut-A-Thon
The Boys & Girls Club-Lincoln Unit will hold their first annual Back-to-School Cut-A-Thon Fundraiser 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Unlimited Perfections Salon, 2559 E. Main St. in Lincolnton, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Fairfield United Methodist Church, 7860 Fairfield Forest Rd. in Denver. Activities will include haircuts, free hot dogs and a bounce for kids. Food pantry

Community Blood Center of the Carolinas will host two Lincolnton blood drives: 2-6:30 p.m. Monday at Walgreens, 1230 E. Main St., and 2:30-7 p.m. Tuesday at Abernethy Chevrolet, 1445 E. Main St.

Fire dept. meeting
South Fork VFD will have their annual meeting 7 p.m. Monday at the station, 2736 Long Shoals Rd. in Lincolnton.

School supplies
The Pumpkin Center VFD, 2911 Lee Lawing Rd. in Lincolnton, will collect back-to-school supplies now through Tuesday for those in need. Donations may include paper, pencils, markers, notebooks, crayons, glue sticks copy paper and more.

Free hair care
The Cosmetic Art and Sciences Club at Gaston College’s Lincoln Campus will offer free (ages 5-12) or discounted full-service hair care (ages 13-17) for children receiving services from Christian Ministry 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at 511 S.
