Police have arrested a Lincolnton woman for stealing multiple items from the home of recently-murdered couple Mike and Bonnie Vincent, officers reported.
Officers responded around late Tuesday to 1622 Broome Street in reference to a larceny, a police report said.
Upon arriving on scene, police spotted Patty Danielle Adams, 44, on the front porch. She told officers the family of the deceased couple had given her permission to be there, the report said.
Police contacted the Vincents’ daughter-in-law who denied the woman’s comments, saying she didn’t know Adams and didn’t give her permission to be at the residence, officers said.
Adams, of 828 East Gaston Street, is accused of taking pocket knives, BB guns, wind chimes, tools, plants, lanterns and other various belongings from the home and putting them into her vehicle.
Officers arrested Adams and charged her with one misdemeanor count each of larceny and possessing stolen property.
She’s since been released from the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center on a $3,000 secured bond.
Adams was convicted of drug-related charges in the county in 2008, according to the North Carolina Department of Correction website.
Police investigators found Mike and Bonnie Vincents’ bodies inside their residence last month, after a neighbor tipped them off to the deadly scene.
Wilbert Lester Fair, 43, of Cloverleaf Lane in Lincolnton, has been charged in the double homicide and faces two counts of first-degree murder.
He’s being held without bond in the Lincoln County jail and is set to appear in court on Aug. 28.
