Blanche Thornburg Beam

CHERRYVILLE — Blanche Thornburg Beam, 94, of 111 Harrilson Rd., formerly of Hwy 274, died Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Carolina Care.

Mrs. Beam was born on Jan. 5, 1918 in Gaston Co., a daughter of the late Frank and Lillian Dellinger Thornburg. She was a member of Bess Chapel United Methodist Church and retired from the Carlton Mill in Cherryville.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Beam; sister, Margie Norris; and brothers, Frank Thornburg, Carl Thornburg, and Buck Thornburg.

Survivors include her sister Irene Livengood of Salisbury and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Bess Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Roy Byers officiating with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.

Alma Flo Williams Burke

Mrs. Alma Flo Williams Burke, age 84, of the Lincoln Nursing Center, Lincolnton, died on Sunday, August 5, 2012.

A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. on Friday, August 10, 2012 at Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday atWarlick Funeral Home.

Mrs. Burke was born March 26, 1928 in Altoona, Pa. to the late Carl and Helen Rabenstein Williams.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard Burke. She worked in the food industry.

She is survived by one son, David Burke of Houston, Tex.; one daughter, Sharon Burke Rich of Lincolnton; one sister, Elaine Schraff, Tenn.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Darlina Ernestine Eason

GASTONIA — Darlina Ernestine Eason of Gastonia passed away August 5, 2012.

A native of Rock Hill, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Ernest Lester and Elaine Hinson.

Ms. Eason earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree and a Master’s of Science Degree from UNCC.

She is survived by her daughters, Elaina Keener and husband Ralph of Gastonia, Cindy Schoenfeld and husband Michael of Belmont, Susan Slaton of Andover, N.J.; sisters, Carol Friday, Doris Queen; brothers, Tom Eason, David Eason; sister-in-law, Regine Eason; grandchildren, Mark, Kevin and Adrienne Keener.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Roy Eason.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at Dallas Funeral Home.

Robert Wells Fulton

DENVER — Mr. Robert Wells Fulton, age 97, of the Wexford House in Denver, died on Monday, August 6, 2012.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2012 in Meadville, Pa. with burial to follow in the Greendale Cemetery, also in Meadville.

Mr. Fulton was born February 22, 1915 in East Liverpool, Ohio. He worked as a paint and glass salesman.

He is survived by two sons, John Robert Fulton and wife Penny of Simpsonville, S.C. and Thomas Carl Fulton of Pueblo, Colo.; one daughter, Nancy Peterson and husband Lyle of Lincolnton; four grandchildren, Michele Jones and husband Jesse, Scott Peterson and wife Michele, Ross Fulton and wife Marni, and Rachel Schnorr and husband Michael; and one great-granddaughter, Megan Peterson.

Grace Sherrill

DENVER — Grace Hazel Caldwell Sherrill, age 94, of Hwy. 16, Denver passed away Monday, August 6, 2012 at Catawba Valley Hospice House in Sherrills Ford.

Born September 2, 1917 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late David Hoyle Caldwell and the late Fannie Murray Caldwell. Mrs. Sherrill was retired from Newton Glove and a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Denver.

In addition to her parents; husband, Fred Jonas Sherrill; a daughter, Hazelene Sigmon; a grandson, Ashley Sherrill; six brothers, Ray, Ralph, Roy, Harley, Rev. Harding, Harold Caldwell; and three sisters, Flona Beard, Gladys Stewart and Ruby Hubbard preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Fred J. Sherrill and Kim Davis of Maiden, Kenneth R. Sherrill and wife, Becky of Catawba; one daughter, Sue Sherrill of the home; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Juanita Hawn of Maiden; two sisters-in-law, Juanita Sherrill of Catawba, Stella Caldwell of Newton; one son-in-law, Leonard Sigmon of Mt. Holly; beloved nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 3 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church in Denver with Rev. Tony Matthews officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends, prior to the service, from 1:45 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. in the church fellowship hall.

Margaret “Diane” Joyce Crowder, 64, of Maiden died August 5, 2012.

The funeral service will be held today at 2 p.m. at Living Word Church, Maiden. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in Maiden City Cemetery. The family received friends August 7, 2012 from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Living Word Church, Maiden.

Maude C. Brittain, 90, of Cherryville died August 6, 2012.

Visitation will be held today from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Stamey~Cherryville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. August 9, 2012 at Plainsview Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will be at Plainsville Baptist Church Cemetery, Lawndale.

Julia “Juliee” McArthur Wolfe, 69, of Cherryville died July 29, 2012.

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 18, 2012 at Roma Italian Restaurant in Cherryville from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.
