Police are investigating the second armed robbery in less than a month outside the Little Caesar’s Pizza on East Main Street in Lincolnton.
Details of the latest incident, which occurred around 10 a.m. Saturday, were similar to those in a hold-up in early July outside the same city eatery, Det. Jason Munday told the Times-News on Tuesday.
A masked man approached an employee in the store parking lot, using a weapon to threaten the victim before fleeing the scene with an undisclosed amount of money, police said.
No one was hurt in the incident, and detectives are not identifying the type of weapon used in the robbery.
Only July 2, a masked gunman threatened a different store employee during daytime hours in the same parking lot on East Main Street.
The cases are “very similar,” Munday said, “with the same time of day and MO.”
In both instances, Gaston County authorities responded with a K-9 unit to assist police.
While officers had little success tracking a suspect in the initial incident, Munday called this week’s operation “productive.”
“We had some success,” he said, without revealing additional details of the ongoing investigation.
