George Alexander Turner
Mr. George Alexander Turner, age 86, of 5074 E. Highway 150 in Lincolnton, died on Monday, July 23, 2012.
His funeral service will be 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Curtis Paul, Pastor Jack Rhyne, and Pastor Marty Ramey officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites by Gaston Masonic Lodge, #369. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Turner was born February 27, 1926, son of Clarence and Alma Jordan Turner and Stella Whitaker Turner. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Hilda Rudisill; brother, Gene Turner; daughter, Sandy Turner; great-granddaughter, Lauren Whiteside; and Margaret’s son, Stanley Ledford Rhyne. He served in the United States Army and then later worked as a plant engineer for FAB Industries until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Margaret Ledford Rhyne Turner of the home; one son, George A. Turner Jr. of Gastonia, two daughters, Christine Turner Welch of Gastonia and Diana T. Hill of Kings Mountain; Margaret’s son, Wilford Rhyne of Lincolnton; one brother, Rodney Turner of Lincolnton; three sisters, Dorothy Scism of Waco, Clara Bivens of Lincolnton, and Colette Walker of Dallas, NC; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; Margaret’s two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Larry James Melton Jr.
VALE — Larry James Melton Jr., age 45, of Lincolnton, passed away Monday, July 23, 2012 at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte after a long illness. He was a native of Buncombe County. He was a member of Inanda Baptist Church, Asheville.
He was preceded in death by his Paw; John Elkins of Asheville, and three uncles, Wayne Fox, Bruce Elkins, and Jimmie Elkins.
Mr. Melton leaves behind his loving family including, wife, Denise Melton; son, Brandon Melton of Fairview; step-daughter, Kaley Davis; step-son, Nathan Davis and wife Karen; mother, Betty Elkins; brother, Terry Melton and wife Lois; sister, Angela (Christy) Melton and husband, Jesse; Maw, Ziller Elkins; aunts’, Hazel Bradley and husband, Jim; Mary Rash and husband Gerald; Magdalene Briggs and husband Bruce; several cousins; special friend, Bobby Jones; several nieces and a nephew.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Thursday, July 26, 2012 at E. F. Drum Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Mulls Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery on Jacobs Fork River Road. Pastors Keith Huss and Travis Mull will officiate.

Linda Kay Kitner Devine
WAYNESBORO, PA — Linda Kay Kitner Devine, age 67, of Waynesboro, Pa., died on Sunday, July 22, 2012.
Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ with Rev. James Parker officiating. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall.
Mrs. Devine was born June 6, 1945 in Kansas City, Mo. to the late Harold Wilbur and Mary Alene Holland Kitner. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Dean Devine. She worked as a civil servant for the United States government.
She is survived by two sons, Christopher Devine and Anthony Devine, both of Ireland; one daughter, Dawn D. Brown of Lincolnton; a brother, Jack Kitner of Kansas City, Kans.; five grandchildren, Aidan and Liam Devine, both of Ireland, Lily and Daniel Brown, both of Lincolnton, and Charles Devine of Ireland.

Margaret Ann Roberts Gaida
Margaret Ann Roberts Gaida, age 80, of 1101 Alf Hoover Road in Vale, died on Sunday, July 22, 2012.
A memorial service is planned for a later date in New York.
Mrs. Gaida was born March 10, 1932 in Long Island, N.Y. to the late Fred and Ann McCaffrey Roberts. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Samuel J. Gaida. She was a professional truck driver.
She is survived by four sons, James Gaida and wife Terrie of Summit, N.Y., Samuel Gaida Jr. and wife Debra of Summit, N.Y., George Gaida and wife Linda of Vale, and Joseph Gaida of Warnerville, N.Y.; two daughters, Priscilla Gaida of Laguna Woods, Calif. and Noreen Fancher and husband Arnold of Howes Cave, N.Y.; fourteen grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
