Jerry Charles Chapman
CROUSE — Mr. Jerry Charles Chapman, age 71, of 1184 Old Lincolnton Crouse Road in Crouse, died on Tuesday, July 17, 2012.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2012 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Crouse with Pastor Rick Sloop officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Chapman was born June 24, 1941 in Lincoln County to the late Webb H. and Gladys Sneed Chapman. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Garland Webb Chapman and Donald Miller Chapman. Mr. Chapman retired from Vermont American where he worked as a machinist.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Randall Chapman of the home; one son, Todd Randall Chapman and wife Shannon T. Chapman of Broken Bow, Nebr.; one daughter, Kimberly C. George of Cherryville; grandchildren, Jennifer N. Rector, Shannon A. Finger, Lance R. Finger; great-grandchildren, Hazel R. Lawing, Samantha A. Seeds, Dillon A. Finger and Austin R. Finger.

Mr. Hillard Lee Beam
CHERRYVILLE — Mr. Hillard Lee Beam, 87, of 3150 Fish Pond Road passed away on Monday, July 16, 2012 at Peak Resources in Cherryville.
Mr. Beam was born in Lincoln County, on February 10, 1925 a son of the late Ambrose Cline Beam and Maude Black Beam. He was a retired house carpenter and farmer. Mr. Beam served his country in the US Navy during WWII.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Wes Beam and Vickie of Dallas; a daughter and son-in-law Carolyn Gantt and Regan of Cherryville; one sister, Marjorie Sellers of Denver; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents Mr. Beam was preceded in death by his wife Hazelene Lail Beam; three brothers, A.C., Major and Bud Beam and one sister, Joan Fortenberry.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 11 a.m. Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Lail officiating.
The family will greet friends following the graveside service and at other times the family will be at the home of Carolyn and Regan Gantt, 501 Weaver St. Cherryville, NC.
Burial will be at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

Hugh Elliott Baxter Jr., 63, of Maiden died July 16, 2012.
A funeral service will be held today at 2 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church, Maiden. Burial will follow in Maiden City Cemetery. The family will receive friends, prior to the service, from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the church.

A memorial service will be held today at 2 p.m. in Cone Memorial Chapel of Carpenter’s Funeral Home. There will be no interment services. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the memorial services at the funeral home.
