Widowed Group
Widowed Group of the Greater Gaston Area will host the program “How to Choose and How to be Chosen” 6:30-7:30 Thursday at the Senior Citizen Center, 1303 Dallas-Cherryville Hwy. in Dallas. Cancer benefit
A fundraiser benefit for local cancer patient Edith Beal Robinson will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Food Lion parking lot in Maiden. Hot dogs, hamburgers, drinks and cake will be on-hand.

BBQ/bake sale

Canning workshops
The East Lincoln Betterment Association will sponsor two hands-on food preservation workshops Tuesday including one on homemade jam 10 a.m. to noon followed by how to pickle vegetables at 6 p.m. Melinda Houser, Family and Consumer Sciences Agent for the local chapter of the N.C. Cooperative Extension, will conduct the workshops.
