IRON STATION — GH Schronce Jr. “Junior” of Iron Station made the journey to his everlasting home on Saturday, July 14, 2012. He was born Aug. 3 1933 in Lincoln County. He was preceded in death by his parents Grover and Mae Smith Scronce, sister Carrie Reep and brother Robert Scronce.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Sue Gilbert Schronce; sons, Dennis and his wife Vicki of Lincolnton and Michael of Lincolnton; two grandsons, Phillip and Brandon of Lincolnton; two brothers, Marshall and his wife Shirley and AZ and his wife Nancy, both of Iron Station; brother in law Charles Reep of Lincolnton, ten nephews andthree nieces.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials are made to Iron Station United Methodist Church, 4754 E Hwy. 27 Iron Station, NC 28080. Visitation will be today from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Warlick Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 11a.m. at the Warlick Chapel with the Reverend Carolyn Sears officiating. Interment will follow at the Iron Station community cemetery.

Louis ‘John’ Harris
DALLAS — Mr. Louis “John” Harris, age 81, of 306 Abernathy Drive in Dallas, died on Saturday, July 14, 2012.
His funeral service will be 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at New Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Cameron Dulan, Rev. Dick Whitener and Rev. Charles Ingle officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Hardin. The family will receive friends from 1until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. At other times, the family will be at the home of Pat Harris, 208 N. Lincoln Street in High Shoals.
Mr. Harris was born July 28, 1930 in Gaston County to the late Reid A. and Ila Costner Harris. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Pete Harris. Mr. Harris worked as a fixer for J.P. Stevens.
He is survived by four sons, Keith Harris, Tim Harris, Roland Harris, and Jay Harris all of High Shoals; one daughter, Katrina Hendricks of High Shoals; two brothers, Bob Harris and Max Harris, both of Dallas; two sisters, Lena Lorence of Ranlo and Margie Revere of Shelby; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and significant other, Pat Harris of High Shoals.

Tucker Jane ‘Tuck’ Blackwelder Randall
CHERRYVILLE — Tucker Jane “Tuck” Blackwelder Randall, age 79, of 802 Crescent Drive died July 14, 2012 at her residence. She was born June 26, 1933 in Gaston County, a daughter of the late John William and Ocie Beulah Witherspoon Blackwelder. Tuck was retired from Carolina Freight Carriers, Cherryville, working in Government Billing with 30 years of service. A member of First Presbyterian Church, she also was a member of Cherryville Chapter of the “Golden Girls” and always said “that she hoped that there wouldn’t be a dry eye left anywhere when she left earth”. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Pete Blackwelder, Buck Blackwelder, Jab Blackwelder; two sisters, Mary Sue “Cooter” Blackwelder and Ruth B. McGinnis.
Survivors include husband, Don Randall Sr., of the home; sons and daughter-in-law, Don Richard Randall Jr., Dr. George W. Randall and wife Tammy of Cherryville; one daughter, Jane R. Thomas of Cherryville; one brother and sister-in-law, Dick and wife Betty Blackwelder, of Cherryville; three grandchildren, Alex Thomas, John Randall and Collin Randall; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6 p.m., Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Dr. Bill Lowe officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Carpenter’s Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Burial will be at a later date.

Haven Devon ‘Puckett’ Haney
Haven Devon “Puckett” Haney, age 50, of Lincolnton, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012 surrounded by his family.
A Gaston County native, he was born July 7, 1962, son of Judy Autry Haney of Gastonia and the late Johnny William Haney.
Mr. Haney was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his father, Haven was preceded in death by his grandparents, Merm and Grace Haney, and Sam and Mildred Autry.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Kay Contreras of Lincolnton; son, Eric Devon Haney of Gastonia; stepson, Antonio Flores Contreras of Gastonia; nephew, Christopher Scott Loftin of Lincolnton; brother, Teddy William Haney of Gastonia; sister, Terri Lynn Bradley of Cherryville; and many loving uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 17, 2012 from 2:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, 1503 S. York. Rd., Gastonia.
The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, officiated by the Bishop Ron Duncan.
Interment will be in Olney Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

GOOSE CREEK, SC — Mr. Charles Odell Whitlock, age 90, of 83 Indigo Lane in Goose Creek, SC, and formerly of Hickory, NC died on Friday, July 13, 2012.
His funeral service will be 2 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2012 in theWarlick Funeral HomeChapel. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Whitlock was born March 31, 1922 in Lincoln County to the late Labin Whitlock and Lucy Camp Whitlock Sellers. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his step-father, Arthur Sellers. Mr. Whitlock served in the United States Army ATC and was a veteran of World War II. He retired from Flowers Auto Parts in Hickory.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Denton Whitlock of Goose Creek, SC; one son, Charles “Buddy” O. Whitlock, Jr. and wife Carolyn of Hickory, NC; two daughters, Sandy W. Young and husband Bob of Goose Creek, SC, and Peggy W. Warstler and husband C.J. of Charlotte, NC; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Hilma Lucille Warren Witherspoon, 95, of Conover died July 15, 2012.
