Edward Linwood Coker
Edward Linwood Coker, 56, of Iron Station, passed away suddenly on July 12, 2012. Born on April 25, 1956 in Kinston, NC, Edward was the son of Pauline Foxwell Coker Hinson and the late Arthur Coker. He was a truck driver and he loved sports especially baseball
Besides his father, Edward was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Elizabeth Coker.
Edward is survived by his mother, Pauline Foxwell Coker Hinson, his wife of 16 years, Pamela; daughter Krystal Graham, grandson Noah Sigmon; sisters; Linda Steele, Pamela Price, Janet Clark, Lisa Foster and many nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at The Good Samaritan Funeral Home 3362 North Highway 16 Denver, NC. The Rev. Harry N. Caldwell, Pastor of Salem Baptist Church, Lincolnton will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Deborah Lynne Halter Edgemon
Deborah Lynne Halter Edgemon, 56, passed away suddenly at herNorth Carolinahome July 10, 2012.
Born in Orangeburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Paul von HindenburgHalter, Jr. and the late Frances McKewn Halter, both of Denmark, SC.She graduated as salutatorian from JeffersonDavis Academyin 1973 and earned her diploma from the Orangeburg School of Nursing in 1976,after which she obtained her RN licensure. She spent her life caring forothers, both during her time as a nurse, and afterwards, in various volunteercapacities which allowed her to demonstrate her commitment to bettering thelives of those around her. She was an avid animal lover who was known forproviding a home and loving family for abandoned pets.
Deborah was a beloved daughter, loving wife, dedicatedmother, and caring sister who is survived by her husband, Chris Edgemon; daughter, Chrissy Edgemon Holliday (Jason); brothers, Paul V. Halter, III (Toni)and Eric Halter; sisters, Amy Halter Itwaru (Ray) and Stacey Halter Spires(Steven); as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extendedfamily, and friends.
Services will be held at Cooner Funeral Home, 287 McGee St., Bamberg, SC, on Saturday, July 14, 2012.The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., and funeral services will begin at 2 p.m.. A graveside ceremony will follow at Myers Cemetery in the Corner community in Orangeburg County, SC.

Robert Donald Farmer, age 64, of Lincolnton, NC, died on Wednesday, July 11, 2012.
A private memorial service will be held.
Mr. Farmer was born September 17, 1947 in Lincoln County to the late Fred Eugene and Daphine Carpenter Farmer. He retired from Rutherford Electric after 27 years of service.
He is survived by two daughters, Emily Byers of Florida and Jill Beaver of North Carolina; two brothers, Sam Farmer and Eddie Farmer, both of Lincolnton; and two sisters, Carolyn Hallman of Lincolnton and Becky Crumpler of Kansas.

Harvey Venus Houser, 80, of 1834 North Brook #3 School Road, Vale, died Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at his residence.
Born March 14, 1932 in Lincoln County, he was son of the late Samuel Robie Houser and Clara Jane Yarboro Houser. He was a member of Lincolnton Seventh-day Adventist.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Coleen Dellinger Houser. Survivors include three sons, Tim Houser and wife, June of Hiddenite, Phil Houser and wife, Janet of Vale and Sam Houser and wife, Lisa of Vale; two daughters, Sherry Lee and husband, Ed of Casar and Candy Feaganes and husband, Steve of Casar; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; brother, Robie Houser and wife, Kay of Vale; and a sister, Roberta Rudisill and husband, Ronnie of Vale.
Visitation will follow the memorial service. Memorial service will be at 6 p.m., Thursday at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel, Fallston with Pastor Mike Hill and Pastor Darryl Bentley officiating.Graveside service will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday at the Houser Family Cemetery.

Patricia ‘Ann’ Hauss Lackey
Patricia “Ann” Hauss Lackey, age 78, of 3009 Harmon Road in Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, July 11, 2012.
Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Bethphage Lutheran Church with Rev. Fred Mitschke officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today atWarlick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lackey was born February 18, 1934 in Lincoln County to the late Hugh Avery and Mittie Hoyle Hauss. She retired from Lincoln County Schools where she worked in food service.
She is survived by her husband, Kermit Lackey of the home; one son, Mark Hauss Lackey and wife Heather of Lincolnton; two sisters, Betty Jo Hauss of Lincolnton and Katherine H. Canipe of Vale; and one grandson, Brandon Chase Lackey.

VALE — Elaine Darl Matthews, 85, of 2024 Willis Rd, Vale, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at her home.
Born in Lincoln County on August 29, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Arch Cornet Houser and Hattie Mae Hoyle Houser. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church and retired from Drexel Furniture.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Alston Matthews; daughter, Ida Mae Hildebran; and three brothers, Tilson Houser, Ted Houser, and Bud Houser.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Scottie Matthews of Vale; daughter and son-in-law, Edith and Colen Mann of Sunshine; son-in-law, Lewis Hildebran Jr. of Hildebran; seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Ruth Stevens McGinnis
Ruth Stevens McGinnis, age 88, of Lincolnton, passed away on July 12, 2012 at Hospice of Catawba Valley.
Ruth was born November 28, 1923. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Leona Lynch Parker; her sisters, Margaret Parker Yount and Ella Mae Parker Mullinax; her brothers, Frank Parker, Joe Parker, and Bill Parker; her husband, Clyde Stevens and husband Burgin McGinnis.
She is survived by sons, Ben Stevens of Buffalo Grove, Illinois, Ken Stevens and wife Norene of Lincolnton, Randall Stevens and wife Mickie of Lincolnton, Michael Stevens and wife Angela of Isle of Palms, SC; and daughter, Jill Eaddy and husband Martin of Lincolnton. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Ruth was a lifelong member of Southside Baptist Church and was retired from Burris Manufacturing Company. She was a cherished mother and grandmother noted for her hospitality and good cooking at large family dinners at her home.
The family would like to give special thanks to Ruth’s loyal and loving caregivers, Rosie Cooper, Sandy Jones, Coleen Parmer, and Margie Sain.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening, July 14, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. atWarlick Funeral Home.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, July 15 at 2 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Bud Jernigan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mae Rudisill, 89, of Drexel, NC, formerly of Lincolnton, NC went to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, July 11, 2012. She was born on January 4, 1923 in Rutherford County. Mae was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Vale and joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Morganton in her later years. She was a member of the Red Hat Club in Morganton and was employed at Blue Bell Manufacturing in Lincolnton. Mae loved to sing and travel.
Mae is survived by her son, Dean Rudisill of Connelly Springs; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude William Rudisill; a daughter, Mary R. Mosteller; a son, Wayne Rudisill; brothers, Jim Long, Jack Long, and Lee Prewitt; and a sister, Mary Baucom.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., today at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Vale with Rev. Van Buchanan officiating. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center in Morganton from 11 a.m. until 12 noon. At other times, the family will be at the home of her granddaughter, Deanna Buchanan.

Johnny Lynn Stamey
Johnny Lynn Stamey, age 55, of 225 Rocky Creek Drive, Lincolnton, N. C., died Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at his home. Johnny was born on June 8, 1957, the son of the late Charles Donald and Lucille Grigg Stamey. He was employed for 23 years as a roofer with Long Brothers Roofing, Dallas, N. C.
Survivors include Fiancée, Cindy Christenbury of the home; a son, William Shannon Stamey of Indianapolis, Indiana; a daughter, Cassidy Lynn Stamey of Lincolnton; two step-sons, Michael Reinhardt and Kevin Cody, both of Lincolnton; four brothers and their spouses, Donald Stamey, C. V. and Mandy Stamey, Mackey and Freda Stamey and Chris and Teresa Stamey all of Lincolnton; two sisters and a spouse, Rita and Daniel Martin, and Brenda Hardin, all of Lincolnton.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 2 p.m. in Cone Memorial Chapel of Carpenter’s Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Redding officiating. Burial will be in Hull’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Vale. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
