Lincoln County deputies placed a Mecklenburg County woman behind bars last week after accusations that she took more than $30,000 in jewelry from an eastern Lincoln County home where deputies said she worked as a housekeeper for nearly a decade and a half.
Mubeen Khan Davis, 53, of 16916 Stinson Avenue in Huntersville, was charged Tuesday with one felony count each of larceny and possession of stolen goods for allegedly stealing $36,000 in jewelry items from a home on the 8800 block of Hager’s Ferry Road, where she cleaned for at least 14 years, deputies said.
Davis is also accused of selling the items to an out-of-county jewelry store, a Sheriff’s Office press release said.
While deputies said the victim realized in May that her belongings were missing, she didn’t file a report until late last month.
Deputies reported recovering a $10,000 Rolex watch, but have yet to locate the other allegedly stolen items including rings, necklaces, earrings and a silver utensil set..
Davis remains in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $15,000 secured bond and is currently being investigated by law enforcement agencies in Huntersville and Cornelius for possibly committing similar crimes in those areas, the Sheriff’s Office said.
