Police have charged a Lincolnton man with shooting a neighbor in the abdomen during an altercation at a child’s birthday party over the weekend.

Det. Sgt. Jason Munday told the Times-News on Monday afternoon that Lance Scott Tuno, 26, of 1496 Tin Lane in Lincolnton, was charged with one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Tuno, who serves as a volunteer firefighter with Alexis Fire Department, Lt. Brian Greene said, was taken into custody without incident and placed under a $50,000 secured bond.

Tuno got into a disagreement with a neighbor during a child’s birthday bash around 6:20 p.m. Sunday at a residence on Jack’s Trail, police said.

After the verbal argument became physical, Tuno fired a gun, injuring the neighbor and sending him to Carolinas Medical Center-Main in Charlotte, police said.
