Yard Sale

Football registration
The West Lincoln Optimist club is holding football registration for ages 5 to 12, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, at West Lincoln Optimist Club, 5959 W. Highway 27 in Vale. Registration costs $80 and includes a jersey. For more information, call Bonnie at (704) 748-3466.

Travel baseball

Fireworks Festival
Denver Area Business Association will host its 12th Annual Fireworks Festival Saturday at East Lincoln High School in Denver. Activities will include a 5 p.m. Battle of the Bands, a 9 p.m. raffle and 9:30 p.m. fireworks show. Furnace Road will be the event’s featured band. Adoption fair
A small, select group of animals from the Lincoln County Animal Shelter are being offered for adoption at the Petco in Huntersville, located at 10017 Biddick Lane, every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, call (704) 736-4133.

Car wash
O’Reilly Auto Parts on East Main Street in Lincolnton will host a car wash 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. All donations benefit Lincolnton Relay for Life.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post 700 is having a car wash and hot dog sale, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, at Meineke Car Care Center, 2009 E. Main St. in Lincolnton. All proceeds will go toward the Explorer National Conference. For more information, call (704) 736-0621.

Worship change
Crouse United Methodist Church, 3311 Crouse School Rd. in Crouse, has changed their worship service time for July-Sept. Sunday school will be 8:30 a.m. followed by worship at 9:30 a.m. For more information, call (704) 735-2443.

C’ville Celebration
The city of Cherryville will host an Independence Day Celebration Tuesday, July 3 at the Downtown Mini-Park. The guest DJ is John Barkley and Jim Quick & The Coastline Band will be featured from 6-10 p.m. Fireworks begin at 10 p.m., and food vendors will be set up. Spectators are invited to bring lawn chairs.

Last Man’s Club
The Last Man’s Club of Lincolnton and Lincoln County is currently looking for convertibles for this year’s Fourth of July parade since many of the vets are unable to walk. Anyone interested in making their convertible available can contact Tom Hawk at (704) 735-0550 or ThomasRHawk@aol.com.

Last Man’s Club
The Last Man’s Club WWII Veterans of Lincoln County will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4 at Fifth Third Bank to ride in the Fourth of July Parade in Lincolnton, which this year is dedicated to the WWII Veteran’s.

July Fourth Parade
Downtown Crouse is hosting its annual Fourth of July parade at 4 p.m. July 4. The Crouse Volunteer Fire Department will be selling hot dogs, soft drinks and other snacks in front of the fire station. Spectators are invited to come watch or join in the parade.

Edith Pirkle Parade
The seventh annual Maiden Fourth of July Edith Pirkle Parade will take place 10:30 a.m. July 4. Participants will assemble at 10 a.m. at the Maiden Library. The parade ends at the Cornerstone FLC parking lot, and the program will begin there at 11:15 a.m. Anyone who wants to be in the parade can come and march. The grand marshal for the celebrations will be N.C. Commissioner of Labor Cherie Berry. For more information, call (828) 428-8551.

July Fourth Celebration
The annual Fourth of July celebration in downtown Lincolnton will begin 6 p.m. July 4 with games and activities. The parade will begin at 8 p.m., followed by a memorial ceremony at 9:15 p.m. and fireworks at 9:35 p.m. at the Lincolnton High School stadium.

Certified Diabetes Educator and Dietician Beth Silvers will host a cooking class and recipe swap of Diabetes-friendly food, which she will prepare at 3 p.m., Thursday, July 5, at Lincoln Medical Plaza in the Dogwood Room, 441 McAlister Rd. For more information, call Valerie at (980) 212-6006.

Denver Art Trail
The Denver Art Trail is currently looking for new artists for its annual event Oct. 20-21. Two & three-dimensional works will be accepted.
