Following months of renovations, the Lincoln County Register of Deeds Office will be returning to its permanent location in downtown Lincolnton on Tuesday.
While the 105-A East Court Square facility has been under construction since November, the county office operated out of a temporary facility at the old hospital building on Gamble Drive.
To allow time for the relocation, the Register of Deeds Office is closed today and Monday.
As the Times-News previously reported, the renovation was deemed necessary more than two years ago due to the second floor of the office not being compliant with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act regulations for wheelchair accessibility. The facility also had a faulty heating-and-air system.
Register of Deeds Danny Hester said at the time that he also hoped to make the facility more customer-oriented.
Due to the nature of the work done, relocation to a county-owned building was necessary during the renovation period.
