Two suspects have been charged in the shooting death of a man found dead in a vehicle in southwestern Catawba, as well as the attempted murder of a passenger who was also shot.
The victim, identified as Aaron Ruff, was found behind the wheel of a Ford Escape that had crashed into a utility pole in the 5000 block of Hope Road late Wednesday and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office.
Another occupant of the vehicle, Gerald Jeremiah Frederick, had a gunshot wound to the neck. Details on his condition were not immediately available.
Deputies said two suspects in the case had fled, but were later located by deputies and Hickory Police and arrested.
Quavis Shamar Propst, 22, of Vale has been charged with murder and attempted first degree murder.
Calvin O’Bryan Fuller, 24, of Hickory faces the same charges.
Deputies indicated further charges are pending.
Both suspects are being held without bond in the Catawba County Detention Center.
