Betty Short Bennett, 75, of 994 Pointview Lane died June 16,2012 at her residence.
She was born in Gaston Co. on Jan 3, 1937, a daughter of the late Roland and Becky Trammell Short. Mrs. Bennett was a retired health care aid; member of Leonard’s Fork Baptist Church and enjoyed crafting flower arrangements for everyone.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Walter “Tater” Bennett and five siblings Mazelle Sanders, Ethel Black, Dwight, Ray, and Clyde Short.
Survivors include three daughters Lisa Bennett-Jenkins and husband Robert of Taylorsville, Angela Denise Hill and husband Robert of Raleigh, and Wanda Bennett of the home; a son Walter Lewis Bennett II and wife Jenny of Catawba; four sisters Shirley Pruitt of Lincolnton, Frances Neal of Crouse, Ruth Pruitt of Waco, and Mamie Mostetler of Long Shoals; two brothers, Lloyd and Bill Short, both of Cherryville; seven grandchildren, Hayley Dellinger-Hawkins of the home, Joshua and Meredith Hill of Raleigh, Alan and Dustin Crowder and Gavin and Jacob Bennett all of Catawba; and two great grandchildren, Elijah and Caleb Hawkins.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Leonard’s Fork Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Wayne Brittain officiating with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight at Carpenter’s Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and other times at the home.
