Deputies arrested a man and woman accused of harboring crack cocaine inside a vehicle Tuesday night.

Jessica Leah Whitehead, 32, of Fox Chase Lane in Alexis, and Chad Aaron Williams, 32, of Peachtree Street in Lincolnton, were taken into custody just before midnight on charges of cocaine possession, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said they spotted the suspects’ vehicle while leaving the scene of a disturbance call in the area of Green Acres and Peachtree Street, off Buffalo Shoals Road to the northeast of Lincolnton.

One of the suspects’ erratic driving forced officers to “slam on brakes,” a report said.

Deputies initiated a stop of the vehicle and said they seized a “rock-like piece” from the center console; testing later confirmed the substance was cocaine.

While Whitehead has since been released on a $3,500 secured bond, Williams remains behind bars under a $3,500 secured bond.
