A Maiden woman and Pumpkin Center man are accused of defrauding their insurance company about the details of a wreck this past spring in order to obtain more than $2,000 in funds.

David Rowe III, 36, of 3816 King Wilkinson Road in Pumpkin Center, and Terri Lynn Rowe, 33, of 201 North 4th Avenue in Maiden, were taken into custody on Tuesday. David Rowe faces one count of insurance fraud and his alleged counterpart on faces counts of the charge, according to a Department of Insurance press release.

The pair sought money from Progressive Insurance Company, claiming that Terri Rowe had been inside her 2001 Ford Focus when the vehicle was involved in a car crash in early March.

A release stated that Rowe allowed another person to drive her vehicle at the time of the wreck.

In addition, DOI criminal investigators said the couple sought more insurance funds by claiming that David Rowe’s work van also struck his wife’s vehicle.

Progressive provided the couple with more than $2,000, the release said.

Each suspect has since posted bond. David Rowe was released on an $1,800 secured bond and Terri Rowe on a $2,500 secured bond.
