Jim Houser

Henry “Jim” James Houser, 75, of 7714 Matthew Miller Rd. in Vale, died Sunday June 10, 2012.

Born June 26, 1936 in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Alvin Ferd Houser and Leona Proctor Houser. He was retired from Carolina Freight as a freight loader and served in the US Army.  Jim was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and Teamsters Local 61.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Joyle Leatherman Houser; two sons, Brennan Houser of Oak Park, Calif. and Chad Hull and wife, Angela of Vale; a daughter, Michelle Harkey and husband, Doug of Vale; four grandchildren, Jamie Harkey, Jessica Harkey, Abigail Hull and Alec Hull; brother, Ashley Houser of Columbia, S.C.; two sisters, Frankie Godfrey of Vale and Linda Cooke of Cherryville; and his pet dog, Bella.

Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., Tuesday at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, Vale. Funeral service will be at 4 p.m. today at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, Vale. Officiating will be Rev. Jeremy Mahaffey. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery.
