An infant girl remained in a Charlotte hospital’s intensive care unit Tuesday after Lincoln County Sheriff’s detectives said her teen father beat her.
Deputies accused Jordan Alan Minteer, 19, of 3234 Summerow Road in Lincolnton, west of U.S. 321, with fracturing his 7-week-old daughter’s skull, breaking her ribs and giving her a brain bleed, a Sheriff’s Office press release said.Minteer was interviewed and taken into custody on Sunday and charged with one count of felony child abuse-serious bodily injury.
Department of Social Services notified the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) of the case, deputies said.
The infant is being treated at Carolinas Medical Center’s Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte.
Lt. Tim Johnson, head of the CID, told the Times-News Tuesday morning there’s been no change in the child’s condition.
Minteer is behind Lincoln County bars under a $125,000 secured bond.
