Charlie “Bob” Baxter Boston, 71, of 787 David’s Chapel Church Road, Lawndale, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Born January 28, 1941 in Gaston County, he was a son of the late Guy William Boston and Dallas Hoyle Boston. He was a carpenter for Boston Construction Company. Bob was a longtime active member of David’s Chapel United Methodist Church where he was lay leader, Sunday school superintendent, and Adult Sunday school teacher. He loved to mechanic, hunting, outdoors and gardening.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emily Boston and two brothers, Donald Boston and Carl Boston.
Survivors include his wife, Coleen Self Boston; two sons, Vic Boston and wife, Beth of Lawndale and Ray Boston and wife, Teressa of York, S.C.; two daughters, Penny Grigg and husband, Phillip of Lafayette, Ga. and Gail Gilbert and husband, Brian of Lincolnton; two brothers, JD Boston of Crouse and Ronald Boston of Crouse; and two sisters, Cora Mae Emert of Flordada, Tex. and Gertrude Spake of Waco; and eight grandchildren, Jacob Boston, Carrie Grigg, Laura Grigg, Sara Cleckner and husband, Chad, Marie Gilbert, Luke Gilbert, Hanna Boston and Grace Boston.
Visitation will be held today at 2:30 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. at Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston. Funeral service will be held at 4 p.m., today at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel, Fallston. Burial will be in David’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery

Elise ‘Fidget’ Foster Mauney
CHARLOTTE — Elise “Fidget” Foster Mauney, age 92, of 8109 Jamison Place Court in Charlotte, formally of 925 East Park Drive in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, June 5, 2012.
A graveside was held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2012 in the Blowing Rock Cemetery with entombment to follow.
Mrs. Mauney was born February 12, 1920 in Watauga County to the late James M. and Mary Greene Foster. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, J. Howard Mauney Jr. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by two daughters, Marcia Elise Mauney Harkey and husband Ted of Midland and Nancy Lee Mauney Diebold and husband John of Charlotte; one sister, Janice Muriel Foster of Blowing Rock; two grandchildren, Angie Capri Harkey Hastings and Christine Renee’ Murphy McKinney; and five great-grandchildren, Brittany Elise McKinney, Matthew Alan Hastings, Kassie Capri Hastings, Stephanie Marie McKinney, and Michael David Hastings. Other survivors include nieces Tonya Poplin, Kara Metts, Isabella Metts, Betty Baker and husband Bill and Sue Moore and husband Floyd.

Willie ‘Muh’ Brooks Ray
Willie “Muh” Brooks Ray, age 85, of Lincolnton departed this life Monday, June 4, 2012 at the Cardinal Health Care and Rehabilitation Center of Lincolnton. She was born in Lincoln County April 28, 1927 to the late Lawrence Brooks and Sedulia Brooks Matthews.
She was a member of Redemption Outreach Center and participated in the “Young at Hearts” group and sang in the choir.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Austell Ray; two daughters Phyllis Jean Morrison and Shirley Louise Jefferies; and three sisters, Faye B. Chavis, Naomi “Tippy” Brooks, and Naomi Brooks and one great grandson.
She is survived by two sons, James L. Morrison Jr. of Lincolnton, and Anthony J. Morrison of Badin; three daughters, Marion Freeman and her husband Bailey of Washington, D.C., Melenia Adams of Lincolnton, and Pamela Morrison of Gastonia; special nephew, Antonio Brooks of Maiden; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Home Going Services will be held Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Redemption Outreach Center at 4 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The interment will be at Hollybrook Cemetery. Pastor Jerry Goodman will preside over the service.
