Two western Lincoln County women were placed behind bars Thursday for allegedly filing a fake insurance claim after their house sustained fire damage late last year.
Leslie Lee Bolen, 40, and Brandy Cress, 36, both of 7340 Hallman Mill Road in Vale, have been charged with one count each of insurance fraud and obtaining property by false pretenses, according to a Department of Insurance press release.
DOI officials accused the couple of filing a false claim with State Farm Insurance Company following a fire at their residence in December.
State Farm suffered a more than $1,200 loss in connection to the alleged fraudulent claim, the release said.
Each woman has since posted a $5,000 secured bond and released from the Lincoln County jail.
The release encouraged people to contact the Department of Insurance Criminal Investigations Division at (919) 807-6840 to report suspected fraud or visit www.ncdoi.com.
