Community meeting
The Buffalo Shoals Community Association will meet 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Buffalo Shoals Community Building, 1834 Buffalo Shoals Rd. in Lincolnton.

Spay/neuter clinic
The Humane Society Office, 2422 Country Club Rd. in Lincolnton, will host a low-cost spay/neuter clinic Tuesday. For more information, call (704) 732-9022.

Sheriff’s auction
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office will hold an auction of unclaimed property 11 a.m. Tuesday. Proceeds beyond the cost of sale will be donated to the Lincoln County School Board. For more information, contact the Sheriff’s Office at (704) 732-9050.

Transit of Venus
Local dentist Robert T. Cloninger has invited the public to view the transit of Venus, a rare astronomical phenomena, starting 5 p.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of his business at 910 Donita Dr. in Lincolnton. The transit will start at 6:09 p.m. Participants are asked to bring a folding chair, and eye protection will be given to the first 100 people.

Health series
CMC-Lincoln and the Lincoln County Family YMCA will host a series of discussions on metabolic syndrome (i.e. blood pressure, sugar levels and more) starting 6 p.m. Tuesday. Discussions will be the first Tuesday of each month except for July 4. Seating will be limited to the first 40 people. Public meeting
Residents of the North 321fire district are invited to attend a public meeting 7 p.m. Tuesday at North 321 Fire Dept. to help elect new board members.

Quilt Guild

Last Man’s Club
The Last Man’s Club WWII Veterans of Lincoln County will not longer meet 11 a.m. Wednesday due to the sudden closing of Ryan’s Steakhouse in Lincolnton.  The club will not meet for the month of June unless a new meeting location can be secured.

Diabetes meeting
CMC-Lincoln’s Diabetes Education and Self-Management Program will host a “Thursday Treats” meeting 3 p.m. Thursday at Lincoln Medical Plaza, 441 McAlister Rd. in Lincolnton, on how to cook diabetes friendly and heart healthy. Blood drive
Community Blood Center of the Carolinas will hold a blood drive 1:30-5:30 p.m. Friday at East Lincoln High School, 6471 N.C. 73 in Denver. Each donor will receive a free T-shirt.

Senior Dance
The Gaston County Senior Center, 1303 Dallas-Cherryville Hwy. in Dallas, will hold a Senior Dance for ages 55 and over 7-10 p.m. Friday. For more information, call (704) 922-2170.

Widowed Group
Widowed Group of the Greater Gaston Area will hold an annual picnic Saturday at the Senior Center, 1303 Dallas-Cherryville Hwy. in Dallas. Doors open at noon. Basketball camps
The 17th Annual East Lincoln Basketball Association Camps will be June 11-14 and July 9-12 along with a Back to School Co-Ed Camp Aug. 6-9, all at ELHS. Camp applications can be picked up in the school office or mailed to participants by calling the school at (704) 736-1860 ext. 25603. Indiviudals can also contact the school or Coach Chip Ashley for more information on camp cost, times and age requirements.

Experimental Training
The Gaston County Community Collaborative will host “Bridges Out of Poverty Experiential Training,” a simulation of the daily struggles those in poverty face, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 15 at the Gaston Citizens Resource Center, 1303 Dallas-Cherryville Hwy. in Dallas. LHS basketball camp
Registration is now open for a boys and girls basketball camp (grades 2-8). Camp hours will be 9 a.m. to noon June 13-15 at the Lincolnton High School gym. Tennis camp
Registration is now open for a boys and girls tennis clinic (ages 8-17). Camp hours will be 8:30-10:00 a.m. June 11-15 and 18-22 at Betty G. Ross Park in Lincolnton. Science/tech. camp
