John William “JW”Avery
Mr. “JW” Avery age 81 of 557 Springs East Road in Lincolnton passed away on Tuesday May 29, 2012 at his home.
Funeral services will be held Friday June 1, 2012 at 3:00pm in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. David Jones and Rev. Wayne Brittain officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton. The family will receive friends Friday at Warlick Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 2:30pm prior to the service.
Mr. Avery was a native of Lincoln County, born on May 5, 1931. He was the son of the late William and Floy Schronce Avery. Mr. Avery was the owner of Cherryville Metal Company before retiring.
Survivors include his wife of sixty two years Betty Hughes Avery ; four sons John Avery and wife Kathy of Advance N.C. , David Avery and friend Shelia of Lincolnton, Michael Avery and wife Karen of Providence Forge Va., Steve Avery and wife Shelia of Lincolnton; one daughter Linda Garner and husband Tim of Lincolnton; one brother Don Avery and wife Ethel of Lincolnton; two sisters Sue Killian and Jean Black of Cherryville; twelve grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews.

Charlie Frank Heafner
Charlie Frank Heafner, 74, of Crouse went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 27, 2012. Charlie was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed farming. He was retired from Burris and La-Z-Boy.
The family received friends on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 from 6:30 p.m. till 8:30 p.m. at Warlick Funeral Home. His funeral service will be at 4 p.m. today at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Crouse with Reverend Rick Sloop officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Heafner was preceded in death by his parents Dave and Moree Heafner; three brothers, Claude David Heafner, Jack Heafner, and Bobby Lee Heafner; and two sisters, Margaret Ballenger and Peggy Neal.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Hazelene Houser Heafner; one son, Larry Heafner and wife Tonya of Crouse; one daughter, Amy Thomas and husband John of Lincolnton; five grandchildren, Shante, Danielle, and Sarah Heafner, Hayden and Harrison Thomas; two brothers, Glen Heafner of Vale and Tommy Heafner of Crouse; three sisters, Frances Curtis, Linda Gilmore and Carolyn Canipe, all of Crouse and numerous nieces and nephews.

Terry Conrad Laxton
CASAR — Mr. Terry Conrad Laxton, 60, of 325 Jesse Mountain Road, passed away May 27, 2012 at Carolinas Medical Center – Lincoln.
Born November 27, 1951 in Cumberland County, he was a son of Margaret Lockhart Lockner of Hickory and the late Conrad Herman Laxton. He was employed by Century Furniture in Hickory and served in the US Army during Vietnam where he received a purple heart.
In addition to his father he was preceded by a daughter, Teresa Gail Laxton.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Jackie Walker Laxton; two-step sons, Alex Trumble of Casar and Seth Trumble of Connelly Springs; step daughter, Amber Trumble of Morganton; grandmother, Edna Jones of Hickory; brother, Gary Laxton and wife, Paula of Granite Falls; four sisters, Janice Miller of Lenoir, Ann Clark and husband, Carroll of West Jefferson, Linda Jett and husband, Chris Rummage of Newton and Rebecca Welch and husband, Kenn of Atlanta, Ga.; and two step grandchildren, Trevor and Pheobe.
Visitation will be held today at 10 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m., today at Olive Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Terrill Crump officiating. Burial will be at Olive Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mimi Marie Kinneer Oates, age 39, of Hickory Nut Lane in Lincolnton, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 27, 2012.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2012 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ken Swanson officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Oates was born August 27, 1972 in Denver, Colo. to Philip Gary and Marie Wilkins Kinneer. She worked for Broome Insurance Company.
She is survived by her best friend and husband, John David Oates Sr. of the home; beloved son, Jonathan Oates Jr. of the home; parents, Philip and Marie Kinneer of Cleveland, Ga.; sisters, Dianne Montgomery and husband Alan of Snellville, Ga. and Eve Hawthorne and husband Andrew of Rock Hill, S.C.; two brothers, John Kinneer and wife Whitney of Raleigh, and Philip Kinneer and wife Patty of Cummings, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Jerry Neal Queen, age 50, of 3292 Paul Heavner Lane in Lincolnton, died on Sunday, May 27, 2012.
His funeral service will be 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Reepsville Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Hull and Rev. Dr. Pat Earle officiating. Mr. Queen was born September 7, 1961 in Cleveland County to Billy Carroll and Sarah Wright Queen. He worked as a truck driver.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Cathy Hudson Queen of the home; one son, Billy Stephen Neal Queen of Lincolnton; his parents, Billy C. and Sarah W. Queen of Kings Mountain; one sister, Paula Queen Hopson of Kings Mountain; and two grandchildren, Cherish Ann Queen and Avia Jean Queen, both of Lincolnton.

Mr. E. Tony Story, age 60, of 182 Drum Street in Lincolnton, died on May 28, 2012.
His funeral service will be 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Justin Houser officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The body will lie in state for thirty minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. tonight at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mr. Story was born April 25, 1952 in Lincoln County to M. Rose Lynch Story and the late Harold Kenneth Story. He attended the Citadel after graduating from Lincolnton High School and then later worked as a building contractor.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela Davis Story of the home; daughter, Victoria S. Morris and husband Billy of Lincolnton; mother, M. Rose Story of Lincolnton; one brother, Chris Story and wife Marian of Hickory; two sisters, Robin S. Machado and husband David of Lincolnton and Mickie S. Stevens and husband Randall of Lincolnton; two grandchildren, Brooklynn and William Morris; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. J. L. Withers, age 75, of 1358 Pressley Drive in Lincolnton, died on Monday, May 28, 2012.

Mr. Withers was born December 15, 1936 in Lincoln County to the late Charles and Edna Pierce Withers. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Cleveland Withers, and a half-brother, Elgin Withers. He worked as a pipefitter for Duke Energy.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Janice Black Withers of the home; two sons, Brian Withers of Lincolnton and Michael Withers and wife Ashley of Bessemer City; four brothers, W. Troy Withers of Mint Hill, Harold Withers of Lincolnton, Flint Withers of Toledo, Ohio, and James Withers of Lincolnton; and one sister, Moenner Shrum of Lincolnton.
