Bertha Dellinger

SHELBY — Bertha Cleo Brackett Dellinger, 103, of Poplar Springs Church Rd, passed away at Carillon Assisted Living on Wednesday, May 23, 2012.

She was born in Cleveland County on September 1, 1908, to the late A.W. Brackett and Hattie Boggs Brackett.  She was a homemaker and a lifelong member of Kadesh United Methodist Church where she was their oldest member.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Lawrence Dellinger; two brothers, Thomas “Dude” Brackett and Joseph Brackett; three sisters, Blanche Peeler, Ola Ivester, and Lona Stroup Penny; son-in-law, Don Elmore; daughter-in-law, Nora Dellinger; and one grandchild, George Wayne Dellinger.

She is survived by four sons, William Robert Dellinger  and wife Carolyn of Statesville, Edward Gene Dellinger of Cherryville, Wyatt Wilson Dellinger and wife Brenda of Shelby, and Charles Lemuel Dellinger of Shelby; two daughters, Beryl Dellinger Elmore of Lawndale and Ruth Dellinger Osborne and husband Marty of Shelby; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation was held Thursday, May 24, 2012 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston. Funeral Service will be held today at 11 a.m. at Kadesh United Methodist Church. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes before the service. Dr. Joe McMurry and Rev Stan Webb will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Guy Killian

MAIDEN — Guy Marshall Killian, age 79, of Hwy. 150, Maiden passed away Thursday, May 24, 2012 at his residence.

Born February 3, 1933 in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Self P. Killian and the late Betsy Shelton Killian. Mr. Killian was a member of Mt. View Baptist Church in Maiden and a veteran of the US Army.

He is survived by two brothers, Johnny Killian of Maiden, Luther Killian of S.C. and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Mt. View Baptist Church in Maiden with the Rev. Raymond Hamrick  and Rev. Larry Little officiating. The family will receive friends, prior to the service, from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with graveside honors by American Legion Post 16 of Newton.

James ‘Jim’ Henry Lowe

Mr. James “Jim” Henry Lowe, age 61, of 1212 Sedgewood Lane in Lincolnton, died on Thursday, May 24, 2012.

His funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2012 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dale Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. tonight at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Lowe was born December 16, 1950 in Memphis, Tenn. to the late James T. and Helen Elizabeth Edwards Lowe.  He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and then later worked as a truck driver.

He is survived by his wife, Donnie J. Shepard Lowe of the home; one son, Jimmy Lowe and wife Deanna of Lincolnton; one brother, Tommy Lowe of Covington, Tenn.; one sister, Kay Marbry of Memphis, Tenn.; and two grandchildren, Clyde and Addison Lowe.

Dollie Davis Caldwell, 85, of Boiling Springs died May 23, 2012.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Cowpens, S.C. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 1 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

Vernon Charles ‘Charley’ Bryant, 60, of Denver died May 23, 2012.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated May 26, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Denver. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church.

Marion Lucille Stetson Bussino, 91, of Denver died May 24, 2012.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will take place at Middlesex Center Cemetery, Middlesex, Vt.

Ruth Stroupe Wise, 95, of Kings Mountain, died May 22, 2012.

Funeral services will be today at 3p.m. in Cone Memorial Chapel of Carpenter’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. prior to the funeral services at the funeral home.

Rev. Garland Henry Grooms Jr., 89, of Valdese died May 22, 2012.
