A Lincolnton man has been accused of raping a physically helpless woman over a period of three months, deputies have said.
Sheriff’s Detective Seth Bailey charged Steve Castillo, Jr., 32, of 706 Clark Creek Road, with three counts of second-degree rape.
A department press release revealed that Castillo turned himself into authorities at the Lincoln County Magistrate’s office on Thursday.
Deputies said the man repeatedly sexually assaulted the woman, whom he knew, from January through March.
Castillo has since been released on a $40,000 unsecured bond and is set to make his next court appearance early next month, according to the Clerk of Court’s Office.
According to public records on the North Carolina Department of Correction website, a Catawba County judge convicted Castillo of misdemeanor drug-related charges in 1998.
