A panel voted Friday morning not to accept a challenge to District Court Judge Anna (Dina) Foster’s residency and right to seek re-election.
Lincoln County Board of Elections Director Bill C. Beam, who was an observer at the hearing, confirmed the ruling to the Times-News Friday afternoon.
The hearing took place Friday morning at the Cleveland County Commissioners chambers in Shelby, and was presided over by a three-member panel that consisted of Lincoln County Board of Elections Chair Bob Richardson and two members of the Cleveland County Board of Elections.
As the Times-News previously reported, Robert Alexander Williams, a resident of Lawndale, claimed he had evidence that Foster no longer resided within District 27B, which includes Cleveland and Lincoln counties.
He cited Foster’s listed residency on her personal Facebook page in his complaint. According to an official list of Cleveland County elected officials, her address is listed as 904 Meadowbrook Lane in Shelby.
Judge Foster is currently seeking re-election to her seat without any filed opposition.
