Cooking class

Literary competition

Open house

Gaston College’s Cosmetology Program will show off its new art salon, located at 511 S. Aspen St. in Lincolnton, with an open house 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday. Salon hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 5-7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. BBQ fundraiser

Boy Scout Troop 76 will hold a BBQ fundraiser 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Veterans Center on Howards Creek School Rd. in Lincolnton. Carryout option will be available along with delivery for six or more orders.

Emmanuel Reformed Church, 329 E. Main St. in Lincolnton, will hold a children’s consignment sale 6-9 p.m. Friday and 8-10 a.m. Saturday. There will be a half-off sale 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.
Relay fundraiser

Hull’s Grove Baptist Church, 270 Car Farm Rd. in Lincolnton, will hold a Relay for Life fundraiser 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at North Brook Elementary School, 642 Hwy. 274 in Vale. Pathways scholarships

Deadline to apply for a $1,000 Gaston College scholarship from Pathways Services is Saturday. Applicants must have completed the 40-hour Peer Support Specialist training at Pathways and be a resident of Lincoln, Cleveland or Gaston County. Class reunion
