Suspects sought in Cherryville Wal-Mart thefts

Staff Writer

Cherryville Police are on the hunt for a trio of suspects who were allegedly involved in two separate instances of theft this month at a nearby Wal-Mart store.

The incidents occurred at the Wal-Mart on Lincolnton Hwy. in Cherryville.

Police said store surveillance Monday showed two men and a woman putting more than $1,000 worth of Nicorette gum into what appeared to be gift bags.

The suspects fled the property after store managers spotted them, authorities said.

Items totaling nearly $350 were also taken from the store’s health and beauty department two weeks earlier.

Police do believe that the two instances are related.

Anyone with information on the suspects is asked to contact Cherryville Police Sergeant Cam Jenks at (704) 435-1717.
