A Mecklenburg County man accused of raping a teen girl in Lincoln County nearly two decades ago was arrested this week, deputies said.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s authorities apprehended Stephen Eugene Malcolm, 60, of 452 Rhyne Road in Charlotte, on Tuesday, a press release said.
Malcolm faces three counts of second-degree rape for allegedly sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 16 at an eastern Lincoln County residence in 1993, deputies said.
The victim reported the assault to authorities last month, according to the release.
Malcolm has since been released from the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center on a $40,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to make his second appearance in a Lincoln County courtroom on April 11.
Det. Sally Dellinger is credited with the suspect’s arrest.
