Empty vehicle rolls, strikes house

A vehicle rolled down the street and into a home Saturday afternoon in an area east of N.C. 150.
Boger City firefighters said around noon, an unoccupied vehicle from a residence on James Street, located off N.C. 27, rolled across the street and into a neighbor’s yard, striking the house.
A building inspector responded to the residence and deemed the home “appropriate to live in,” fire officials said. There was no one inside the vehicle at the time of the incident. Authorities believe the vehicle’s gear shift accidentally slipped out of park.
Lincoln County Emergency Medical Services also responded to the scene, but no injuries were reported.
