The Lincoln County SWAT team recently raided a Maiden residence where authorities said a convicted felon had been harboring more than a half pound of marijuana.
Narcotics investigators said they’ve had 27-year-old Jarvis Lanard Miller under surveillance for more than half a year.
“We made controlled purchases using a confidential and reliable person,†Lt. Jason Reid said.
Authorities initiated a search of Miller’s home at 3496 Woodstream Drive just before 10 p.m. Wednesday, according to a Sheriff’s Office press release. The suspect’s girlfriend and a child were also located inside the home, authorities said.
After seizing the marijuana, Miller was taken into custody and charged with several drug-related felonies. Charges include two felony counts of possession with the intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana along with one felony count each of maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance and maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance.
In addition, authorities said Miller faces misdemeanor charges for possession of drug paraphernalia and child abuse.
Miller is no stranger to life behind bars. According to the North Carolina Department of Correction website, he spent more than a year in prison for felony forgery in the county in 2005.
NC DOC showed he was convicted two years later in Mecklenburg County on drug-related charges. Other offenses on Miller’s record include assault on a female, DWI, violation of a court order and two additional instances of unrelated drug-charges.
Miller has since been set free on a $10,000 secured bond.
