Three more Lincolnton football players have announced their decisions to continue their athletic careers at the college level.
Austin Duncan will attend Wingate University, Patrick Rendleman will attend Lenoir-Rhyne University and Jonathan Gidney will attend UNC-Charlotte as a preferred walk-on. Both Duncan and Rendleman received partial athletic scholarships.
Duncan finished his senior season with 95 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, four sacks, three caused fumbles, one fumble recovery, one pass breakup and one big hit. On offense, Duncan picked up 229 rushing yards, three rushing touchdowns, was 14-22 as a quarterback for 186 yards with three touchdown passes. Duncan was also an All-Conference defensive lineman his senior year.
As a junior, Duncan had 120 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, nine sacks, two caused fumbles, one fumble recovery, one safety and two blocked extra points. His offensive statistics included 178 yards rushing with one touchdown and 2-5 passing for 30 yards.
Rendlemanâ€™s senior year on defense included 30 tackles, one tackle for loss, one interception, seven pass breakups and four big hits.
As the Wolvesâ€™ starting quarterback, he logged 1,037 rushing yards with 20 touchdowns and 54-119 passing for 940 yards with 12 touchdown passes. Rendleman was an All-Conference quarterback his senior year.
Gidneyâ€™s senior defensive stats included 21 tackles, one tackle for loss, two interceptions, four pass breakups and one fumble recovery.
As a wide receiver he picked up 553 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns and an All-Conference selection. In his junior year, he had two tackles and one pass breakup and 389 receiving yards with seven touchdowns.
