Calvin Clifford Carlton

Mr. Calvin Clifford Carlton, age 87, of Willow Ridge of North Carolina in Rutherfordton and formerly of Lincolnton passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2012.

His funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday March 6, 2012 in theWarlick Funeral HomeChapel with Rev. Ray Fancher officiating. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Tuesday atWarlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Carlton was born on January 31, 1925 in Anderson, S.C. and was the son of the late Thomas Wheeler and Maude Burden Carlton. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Poston Carlton. He was a graduate of Clemson Agriculture College and was a retired textile engineer. Mr. Carlton was a veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II and was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lincolnton.

He is survived by two sons, Clifford “Sandy” Carlton and wife Donna of Shelby and Rick S. Carlton and wife Janice of Ronda; two brothers, Mack Carlton of Atlanta, Ga. and Dan Carlton of Anderson, S.C.; three grandchildren, Jenny Goss and husband Aron, Cayla Price and husband Josh, and Richard Carlton; two great grandsons, Caleb and Silas Goss.

Alda Susan Melinda Keener Yount

Mrs. Alda Susan Melinda Keener Yount, age 94, of 2615 Reepsville Road, Lincolnton died Saturday, March 3, 2012.

Her funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Daniels Lutheran Church with Rev. Ted Bost officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2012 atWarlick Funeral Homein Lincolnton.

Mrs. Yount was born on October 8, 1917 in Lincoln County and was the daughter of the late Austin and Florence Wentz Keener. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Yount. Mrs. Yount was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Yount Wyant and husband Jerry of Vale and Betty Leonard of Lincolnton; one brother, Bob Keener of Chickasaw Point, S.C.; one sister, Joyce Vickers of Newton; seven grandchildren, Tommy Wyant and wife Connie, Susan Barrett and husband Tim, David Wyant and wife Brandi, Lori McBryde and husband David, Jason Leonard and wife Kristy, Darren Leonard and wife Kim, Cayla Leonard and eleven great- grandchildren.

Elliott Partee Smith

IRON STATION — Mr. Elliott Partee Smith, age 68, of 3536 Rhyne Forest Road in Iron Station, died on Saturday, March 3, 2012.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton with Rev. Chris Haywood officiating. The family received friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Smith was born October 20, 1943 in Lincoln County to the late William Hughes and Sarah Mae Ballard Smith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Rachel Hollar and Rosemary Smith. Mr. Smith was retired from Freightliner. After retirement, Mr. Smith enjoyed spending time at Smith’s Marine Service.

Survivors include one son, Bruce Smith and wife Lorrie of Iron Station; one daughter, Tracy Tilson and husband Randy of Gastonia; one brother, Larry Smith of Statesville; one grandson, Dale Smith of Iron Station.

Doris Ann Spencer

Doris Ann Spencer, age 70, of Lincolnton passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012 at CMC- Lincoln. She was born in Escambia County, Fla. to the late Walter Lee Artis and Sarah Elsie Dove Artis.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Spencer; one daughter, Debbie Dills; and one sister Ruth Artis Brown.

She is survived by one daughter, Darlene Caldwell and her husband Manfred of Crouse; one son Jerry Greene of Crouse; five sisters, Edith Reinhardt and her husband Ronald of Vale, Shelby Craw of Flemming Island, Fla., Myra Matthews of Lakeland, Fla., Ruby Campa and her husband Juan of Vale; and Sue Brooks and her husband Bill of Lincolnton; one brother, John Artis and his wife Teresa of Lincolnton; three grandchildren, Nicholas Caldwell of Crouse, Kevin Greene of Ga., and Tiffany Moore of Tex.

A memorial service was held Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Westside House of Prayer, Flay Road, Lincolnton. Rev. Todd Auten will officiate.

Patricia Ann Cline McAlister

Patricia Ann Cline McAlister, 76, of Maiden died Mar. 2, 2012.

Funeral services were held Mar. 4, 2012 at 3 p.m. at Lawings Chapel Baptist Church in Maiden. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends, prior to the service, from 1:45 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the church.

Sarah Johnson Funderburke, 79, of Lawndale died Mar. 3, 2012.

Visitation will be from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m., Mar. 6, 2012 at First Wesleyan Church, Cherryville. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. at First Wesleyan Church, Cherryville. Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, Forest City.
