China-based small-engine manufacturer RATO is planning a new import targeting the Lincoln County market – jobs.
The company expects to bring hundreds of manufacturing, sales and administrative jobs to eastern Lincoln County over the next year or so as it places its North American headquarters in Denver, officials announced at a press conference Thursday morning.
A temporary facility on N.C. 16 in Denver will house the company’s sales and administrative team of about 40 people and be open fairly soon. The company indicated it expects to start hiring its local leadership team next month.
By this fall, the company hopes to open a manufacturing facility in Denver, with plans to employ between 500 and 600 once the operation is going at full capacity.
RATO is coming to the area following an acquisition of Denver Global last month. Based in Chongqing, China, RATO is a maker of motorcycle and ATV engines, as well as engine parts. The company indicated it plans to place additional manufacturing operations throughout the southeastern United States in coming years.
