The West Lincoln Rebels (1-22, 0-14 SPC) fell to the Highland Tech Rams 70-24 on Monday in the first round of the Southern Piedmont Conference tournament. The Rams jumped out to an early lead, 16-5, after the first quarter with Jevon Pattonâ€™s 12 first-quarter points. West Lincoln was led in scoring by Luke Webb and Cameron High, with six points each.

The West Lincoln Lady Rebels defeated the Highland Tech Lady Rams 73-58 in the first round of the Southern Piedmont Conference tournament on Monday. The Lady Rebels scored 18 first-quarter points, including two three-pointers by Brook Hudson. West Lincoln added 16 more points before halftime.
Highland Tech tied the game at 38-38 midway through the third quarter, but the Lady Rebels ended the third quarter by scoring 18 points. West Lincoln was 7 for 9 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter. West Lincoln had four players score in double digits. Erica Webb led the team with 14 points. Brook Hudson added 13, Taylor Sutton added 11 and Molly Leatherman posted 10 points. Brittany Ormand led the team in rebounds with eight and Connor Sigmon had six rebounds. The Lady Rebels travel to North Lincoln to face the Lady Knights at 7:30 p.m. today.

The Lady Knights finished 15th overall at the NCHSAA 1A/2A/3A state championships on Saturday at UNC-Chapel Hill. Caitlin Potter finished 17th in the girls 1,000-meter run (3:20.51), Allie Castro took third in the 1,600-meter run (5:18.67), in the 3,200-meter run Castro finished fifth (11:44.19), Savannah Fornshell finished 22nd (12:39.42) and Morgan Ellis finished 28th (13:08.90). Potter, Ellis, Fornshell and Kayla Harrison finished ninth in the girls 4×800-meter relay (10:40.28). German Perez finished 14th in the boys 1,600-meter run (4:43.40) and Chris Boyle took 13th in the boys 3,200-meter run (10:10.77).
1A/2A swimming & diving
The North Lincoln Knights boys swim team finished sixth overall at the NCHSAA 1A/2A swimming and diving championships at the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary on Friday. Lincoln Charter finished 11th, followed by East Lincoln in 14th. On the girls side, East Lincoln finished ninth overall, followed by North Lincoln in 11th and Lincoln Charter in 25th.
The North Lincoln girls finished eighth in the 200-yard medley relay. North Lincolnâ€™s Melissa Lenentine took 10th in the 200-yard individual medley. Lenentine finished ninth in the 100-yard freestyle, while teammate McKenzie Weed took 11th. The Lady Knights finished 12th in the 400-yard freestyle relay and eighth in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
East Lincolnâ€™s Chloe Read finished sixth in the 50-yard freestyle. Emily McCutchan took 10th for the Lady Mustangs in the 100-yard freestyle. East Lincoln finished fifth in the 200-yard freestyle relay and sixth in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Lincoln Charterâ€™s Sophia Bhalla took 10th place in the 100-yard butterfly. Bhalla finished third in the 100-yard backstroke.
The North Lincoln boys took third place in the 200-yard medley relay. Brett Malmstrom finished fifth in the 200-yard freestyle and second in the 500-yard freestyle. John Biondi finished fourth in the 200-yard individual medle and third in the 100-yard freestyle. Paul Regan took 10th in the 50-yard freestyle and fifth in the 100-yard backstroke. Cody Marik finished 13th in the 500-yard freestyle.
East Lincoln finished 11th in the 200-yard medley relay and 10th in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Will Krehnbrink took eighth in the 50-yard freestyle and 14th in the 100-yard freestyle. Shane Eastridge took 11th in the 100-yard backstroke.
Lincoln Charter finished seventh in the 200-yard freestyle relay and eighth in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Adam Stainback took 13th in the 50-yard freestyle and 13th in the 100-yard freestyle. Mitchell Harwood took 16th in the 100-yard freestyle.

West Lincoln Optimist baseball is holding signups at the Northbrook Elementary School gym on Feb 17 from 6-7:30 p.m., Feb. 18 from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Feb. 20 from 6-7:30 p.m., Feb. 25 from 1-4 p.m., Feb. 27 from 6-7:30 p.m., Mar. 2 from 6-7:30 p.m. and Mar. 3 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Registration is $55 and must be paid on the registration date. Programs are for girls from ages 3 to 18 and boys 3-12. Signups for boys ages 13-14 will be held later in the spring.
