A Maiden man convicted of a sex crime nearly a decade ago was jailed over the weekend after deputies said he illegally accessed a social networking site.
According to a Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office warrant, Lester Scott Turner, 40, of 4760 Kemp Dellinger Road in Maiden, had maintained a personal web page on Facebook.
The warrant further stated that the suspect “unlawfully, willfully and feloniously” accessed the site.
Turner was charged Friday with one felony count of sex offender use of a social website and has since been released on a $1,500 secured bond.
According to the North Carolina Department of Correction website, Turner was convicted of indecent liberties with a child in Lincoln County in 2005, four years after the initial charge.
Since Oct. 2010, authorities said they’ve charged seven other Lincoln County sex offenders with using social networking sites.
