Barbara Ann Beer Allen
CHERRYVILLE â€” Barbara Ann Beer Allen, age 62, died February 8, 2012 at Carolinaâ€™s Medical Center Lincolnton. Barbara was born in Gaston County, October 31, 1949, a daughter of the late Dolly Beer Hinson. She was the former owner of Allen Properties.
In addition to her parent she was preceded in death by her husband Durham Dwight Allen in 2007.
Survivors include her daughters, Leslie Allen and life partner, Michelle StaffordÂ and Teah Allen, step- daughter Belinda McNeely and family; two grandchildren Matthew Lail and Valerie Lail all of Cherryville; and a sister Frankie Gates and family of Lincolnton.
Funeral services were held Sunday, February 12, 2012 at 3 p.m. at Carpenterâ€™s Funeral Home with Rev. Leonard Bumgardner officiating. Burial followed in City Memorial Cemetery. The family received friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Buddy Eugene â€œGeneâ€ Huffman Â
NEWTON â€” Buddy Eugene â€œGeneâ€ Huffman, 76, of Newton, died Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. A native of Catawba County, he was the son of the late Fred Edwin and Elizabeth Bandy Huffman. Mr. Huffman was a graduate of Balls Creek High School, a veteran of the United States Army, and a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. Having worked for several local companies, he retired as a truck driver with 50 years of service.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Leatha Grigg Huffman. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Nancy Lynch Huffman of the home; son, Tony Huffman and wife, Amy of Newton; step-son, Scott Abernethy of Butner; sister, Doris H. Hilton and husband, Jim of Newton; and step-grandchildren, Taylor and Skylar Abernethy.
A service of remembrance will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Gregory Alms and Rev. Delbert Roth officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Newton. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Lois Parker Graham
MORGANTON â€” Mrs. Lois Parker Graham, 91, of Grace Ridge passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at her residence.
Mrs. Graham was born in Lincoln County on January 17, 1921 a daughter of the late Ernest Reid Parker Sr. and Cordie Elizabeth Wright Parker. She attended North Brook Schools and then Berea College for the eighth grade. She then went on to Brevard Junior College and graduated in 1942. Prior to her marriage she worked for US Rubber as an inspector of 40mm percussion caps for the Navy during WWII and Bureau of Personnel in Charlotte. She had worked in retail sales, for the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif. and for the Department of Interior in Post Angeles, Wash. She was a wonderful homemaker raising her children. She enjoyed raising Cocker Spaniel and Weimaraner dogs.
She has been a member of the Newcomers Club, American Society of Mechanical Engineers Auxiliary, Colonial Dames, American Legion Auxiliary and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was instrumental in winning two national awards for the Jacob Forney Chapter of the DAR. The awards were for the annual program of Bells Across America. She had been a tutor with the Lincoln County Literacy Council in Lincolnton. She has been a lifelong member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Cherryville.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Robert Lee Graham III, of the home; one son Richard Lee Graham and wife Sally Ann Barber Graham of Huntington Beach, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Louille Graham Smith and her husband Sheldon K. Smith of Gurdon, Ark. and Nancy Williamson Graham and her husband David Brown of Berkeley, Calif.;Â four grandchildren, Erik Oscar Smith, Tracy Lee Smith, Alison Lea Graham, Robert J. Graham and wife Yvonne and their daughters, Lisa Sophie and Vanessa Lea Graham; five brothers, Clinton Parker and wife Esther of Laurinburg, John Parker of Lake Norman, Dr. Blaine Parker and wife Peggy of Lexington, Ky., Ray Parker and wife Anna of Lincolnton, Stowe Parker and wife Patricia of Gastonia; two sisters Evelyn Leatherman and husband John of Lincolnton and Edna Brendle and husband John of Cherryville.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Graham was preceded in death by a son Robert Lee Graham IV in 1947 and two brothers Jesse Hoyt and Ernest Reid Parker Jr.
Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Cherryville with the Revs. Roy T. Byers and Billy Towery officiating.
Burial will be in Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be in the Fellowship Hall following the service.

Mr. Smith was born September 30, 1951. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred Smith and Avleen Logan Smith. Tommy was a machinist and a veteran of the US Navy.

Margaret Louise Hoover Saunders, age 98, of Lincolnton, died on Friday, February 10, 2012.

Mrs. Saunders was born July 26, 1913 in Gaston County to the late Doras Avery and Iola Jane Howard Hoover. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, John Gray Saunders Sr.
She is survived by a son, John G. Saunders Jr. of the home; a daughter, Cathy Carlisle and husband Sam of Pinehurst; and one sister, Pauline Kidd of Huntersville.

Mrs. Cook was born July 24, 1929 in Lincoln County to the late Robert Hoyle and Nettie Elizabeth Thornburg Poovey. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Cook; infant daughter, Lula Annette Cook; three brothers, Robert Grady Poovey, and Lee Roy â€œShadowâ€ Poovey, and Claude Leonard Poovey; and a sister, Edna Self. She worked as a beautician and, with her husband, ran Cookâ€™s BBQ in Lincolnton for 35 years.
She is survived by a son, Jamey Cook and wife Denise of Lincolnton; a sister, Myrtle (Sue) Reep of Lincolnton; a brother, Kermit William Poovey Sr. of Lincolnton; a grandson, Cory Cook; and a granddaughter, Haley Cook.
