Lawrence H. Norwood

Lawrence H. Norwood, 81, of Newton died Jan. 30, 2012.

Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Startown. Burial will follow in Ivey Memorial United Methodist Church Cemetery in Maiden. The family will receive friends today from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church prior to the service.

Ellen Isaac

Ellen Isaac, 70, of Lincolnton died Jan. 30, 2012.

A memorial service will be held Feb. 3, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Tabernacle of Faith Church in Hickory.

Bradley Christopher Nolen

IRON STATION —Mr. Bradley Christopher Nolen, age 25, of 6046 Nolen Acres Lane in Iron Station, died on Monday, January 30, 2012.

His funeral service will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at New Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2012 atWarlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Nolen was born November 6, 1986 in Lincoln County to Cynthia Wilson Nolen and the late Terry Nolen Sr. He worked in construction.

He is survived by his mother, Cynthia W. Nolen of Lincolnton; two brothers, Terry “Bo” Nolen Jr. of Lincolnton and Matthew Nolen of Iron Station; two sisters, Linda Nolen Hawkins and husband Lee of Dallas, N.C. and Corey Leigh-Ann Nolen of Gastonia; paternal grandparents, Norman and Linda Nolen of Iron Station; maternal grandfather, Johnny Wilson of Oak Island; nephews Jacob Hawkins, Clay Hawkins III, and Nathaniel Mathis; one niece, Autumn Nolen Hawkins; uncles, Eric, Jeff and Frank Nolen and Tommy Wilson; and cousins, Camden, Josh and Jeffrey Nolen.

Hazel Irene Eichmiller Bingham

ROCK HILL, S.C. — Mrs. Hazel Irene Eichmiller Bingham, age 81, of Rock Hill, S.C. and formerly of Shoal Road in Crouse, died on Sunday, January 29, 2012.

Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Bethphage Lutheran Church with Pastor Fred Mitschke officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. tonight atWarlick Funeral Home. Locally, the family will be at the home of a son, Bob Bingham, 5199 Crouse Road, Crouse, NC.

Ms. Bingham was born February 28, 1930 in Haysville, Ind. to the late Ludwig Frederick and Eva Sophia Huebner Eichmiller. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Truman Bingham.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda Bingham Brookover of Rock Hill, S.C.; two sons, Paul Douglas Bingham of Greenback, Tenn. and Robert “Bob” James Bingham of Crouse; one brother, Charles Eichmiller of Jasper, Ind.; a sister, Becky Altmeyer of Stendel, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Shelby Hawkins Shehan

PELZER, S.C. — Shelby Hawkins Shehan, 73, of 120 Maxton Way, wife of the late Paul Richard Shehan passed away Monday, January 30, 2012 at the home of her daughter.

Born August 26, 1938 in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late John Ken and Addie Lee Edwards Hawkins.

Mrs. Shehan is survived by her daughters, Tressia Johnson and Jaymie Dameron; sister, Frances Emory; brothers, Glen, Ray, Willie, Chivous and Boyd Hawkins;  son-in-law, Joe Duncan; daughter-in-law, Herbilene Shehan; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son, Hershel Lee Shehan.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Gospel Way Baptist Church, 3904 Tryon Court House Rd (Hwy 274) Cherryville, NC with Rev. Kyeth Lindsey, Mr. Johnny Hefner and Mr. Todd Martin officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

Joe Billy Carpenter

Mr. Joe Billy Carpenter, age 68, of 1102 Beagles Run Drive in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, January 31, 2012.

His funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Friday, February 3, 2012 at Covenant Bible Church with Pastor Michael Devine officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery with DAV military rites. The body will lie in state for thirty minutes prior to the service. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2012 atWarlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Carpenter was born March 11, 1943 in Lincoln County to the late Alva and Edna Champion Carpenter. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Bella Lynee’ Carpenter. Mr. Carpenter served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and then later worked as a pattern maker for Charlotte Pipe and Foundry.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Quinn Carpenter of the home; two sons, Michael Carpenter and wife Donna of the home, and Scotty Carpenter and wife Alesha of the home; one sister, Mary Shelby of Stanley; and six grandchildren, Brandon Carpenter, Jessica Carpenter, John Carpenter, Norman Fuller, Michael Fuller, and Perry Joe Carpenter.

Richard L. Mitchell ‘Mitch’

Richard L. Mitchell, “Mitch,” of Sherrill’s Ford, passed away at the age of 74 on January 26, 2012. He was born in Lancaster, Ohio, on August 15, 1937. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Mitchell; sons, Randy, Richard, Timothy and David Mitchell; daughters, Cynthia Roberts, Deborah Wyatt and Rebecca Euton; adopted children, Jeremiah and Joshua Mitchell and Jessica Wood. He enjoyed the love of 24 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, all of whom will dearly miss him.

Mitch was a logger all his life. He loved the timber like his own skin and always respected the need to care for the woods. He never knew a stranger and was loved by all. He was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend.

A memorial service was held at 7 p.m., Sunday, January 29, 2012, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses,  1403 S. Hwy 16 Business, Newton, NC. Friends can be received at the home of Edmund and Deborah Wyatt following services, 5793 Hwy 150 East, Denver, NC. Lyman Foster Beaver

Mr. Lyman Foster Beaver, age 67, of 1005 Anderson Lane in Lincolnton, died on Sunday, January 29, 2012.

His funeral service will be 1 p.m. today in theWarlick Funeral HomeChapel with Rev. Dr. Tony Fulbright officiating. Burial will follow in the New Camp Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with DAV military rites. The family received friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 atWarlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Beaver was born May 26, 1944 in Cleveland County to the late Noah Lee and Altie Campbell Beaver. He was retired from FMC where he worked in maintenance. Mr. Beaver also served in the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Craig Beaver of the home; two sons, Lyman Foster Lee “Buster” Beaver and wife Ashlye of Gastonia and Michael Shane Craig and wife Beth of Lincolnton; five daughters, Carla Martin of Lincolnton, Cindy Beaver of Cherryville, Mandy Beaver of Lincolnton, Kelly Bull and Christell Pennington, both of Lincolnton; four brothers, Marshall Beaver and Eugene Beaver, both of Cliffside, Tommy Beaver of Lincolnton, and Larry Beaver of Gaffney, S.C.; three sisters, Margie Mayes of Kings Mountain, Elizabeth Bailey of Cliffside, and Ruth Williams of Kings Mountain; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and honorary brothers, Pat Johnson and Michael Clinton, both of Lincolnton.

Robert Thomas ‘Bob’ Rush Sr.

Mr. Robert Thomas “Bob” Rush Sr., age 82, of 289 Caprice Circle in Lincolnton, died on Sunday, January 29, 2012.

His funeral service will be 2 p.m. today at Boger City United Methodist Church with Rev. Allan Van Meter and Rev. Joe Ervin officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family received friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 atWarlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Rush was born November 6, 1929 in Moore County, to the late Baxter and Margaret Morrison Rush. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. Mr. Rush worked as a car sales manager until retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Lawing Rush of the home; four sons, Robert T. Rush Jr. and wife Tracy of Ft. Mill, S.C., Michael B. Rush and wife April of McDonough, Ga., David E. Rush and wife Lisa of Charlotte, and Edward D. Houser of W.Va.; three daughters, Vicki Beaver and husband Hal of Atlanta, Ga., Kelly Lineberger and husband Gene “Duke” of Lincolnton, and Kristy Williams and husband Patrick of Lincolnton; one brother, Mack Rush of Indian Trail; twenty-three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
